I bought this on a whim for an old Nikon camera body I had lying around not expecting anything of substance.
In reality, this lens is a ton of fun to use and looks very good.
Keep in mind 鈥 it is 100% manual. It does not have any pins to communicate with the camera... so, there is no auto focus, auto aperture, etc. That means you鈥檒l have to switch to Manual shooting mode. Which, if I鈥檓 honest, has forced me to be a better photographer, especially in low light conditions (like shooting for live music, etc). Dialing in the settings and getting a great shot is infinitely rewarding.
For video, the nice thing about the Nikon body I used with this lens (D3300) is the video recording settings are all done IN the body, which means there is an 鈥渁uto鈥 shooting option for videos with this lens (exposure compensation, etc). You can also turn that off and shoot video fully manual, if you wish.
You will need some sort of external flash as this lens is HUGE and casts a shadow with the flash built into the body when shooting at night.
