So I purchased these to add to my Home Assistant setup and replace a couple failing DHT11 sensors.
First - 4 stars because I find the App a bit meh. But - I'm not really someone that likes using Smartphone Apps - so take that with a grain of salt... And at this time, it's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.
I purchased these, hoping the Wifi adapter might be accessible via HA, but alas, it is not. I thought about adding a Bluetooth Dongle to my HA instance, but since I'm running HA in a VirtualBox guest instance, and there seems to be some question as to stability of Bluetooth with this setup, I opted to go with a different solution.
So I added an ESP32 board (/dp/B0C9VSYS4N?th=1) to HA and set it up as a Bluetooth Proxy - AND BAM!!! It immediately discovered the three Govee H5100 sensors and asked if I wanted to add them to HA - then led me through the addition and setup. After that, I unplugged the Govee Wifi adapter and I now have three H5100 sensors feeding temperature and humidity data to my HA dashboard. In addition, the sensors report the condition of their batteries, so I know when to replace their batteries.
Overall, very happy with these, but I am a little concerned about how the one outside on my deck will handle the -30C temperatures I get during a few days in the winter. But no problem with the heat wave and 48.7C temperature on the deck a few days ago...
