  When I first purchased this dripless gun, it worked as intended. When you release the trigger, the rod also pulls back to create some suction on the inside of the tube and to prevent any more caulking from extruding out the tip
  
  I used it again today for the first time since the summer, and it no longer works the same. The rod no longer pulls back to the same degree that it once did. The square block the pulls and pushes the rod doesn't pull the rod well anymore, for whatever reason.
  
  I was using 100% silicone caulking this time, when it was dripping quite a bit and in the summer was using a polyurethane caulking.
  
  I took the caulk tube out and still witnessed the rod not pulling back as it once did
