Customer Review

While I'm glad I have it, it's definitely disappointing at times and I already fear it's not going to have a long life. It's durable enough, the crumb tray is convenient and easy to remove, the oven heats really well, it toasts fine, and the baking tray that comes with it is useful.

The problems, though, are what make it disappointing. It's a bit difficult to use at times (you think you know what you're doing until you try to do the thing) and since there's no preheat alarm you can't even tell when it's fine to put your food in. In addition to that, the timer works just fine when it's unplugged so you think everything's going well until you go back and find that your food is still raw (that has more to do with user error but it's still frustrating). The tray that comes with it is very cheap - I scratched it on my first wash and it's already stained after the first time I used it to bake meat. The metal for the entire toaster, in fact, is very cheap as if you have crumbs left behind they will leave burn stains on them and this isn't a problem I've had with regular ovens. It also doesn't have an oven light but that's just a minor inconvenience.

The two biggest problems for me that point to it's unlikely longevity is the fact that after the first time I used the bake option the red 'on' light didn't work when I tried to extend the cooking time (30m max is also a really small timeline) then turned on once the next time I baked and never turned on again. The main reason I'm annoyed with the timer still working when it's unplugged is specifically for this reason as it takes a few minutes to heat up for me to even realize it's on. The second reason is that the timer seems to be wonky. One time when I set it to toast it stopped right before it should've triggered the off switch; if I hadn't been there the toaster would have kept going. To me that's pretty dangerous to not have the auto-off function working when the timer is done even though it's not something you should leave unattended. The timer has worked for longer periods since then but I'm worried about whether there's something not working correctly that either won't have it working for toasting times or just will stop working altogether. I also don't like how loud the ticking noise or the final ding is - I would honestly prefer a digital beep at the end and not a reminder that's it's still on - but that might be personal preference.

I hope I at least get a few years out of this as, for the price, it is a very convenient little oven. But it's not a good sign for things to start failing already (pretty minor on their own and not worth returning over).
