I really don't know why other reviews are so negative on this product since it works better than anything else I've used.
Over the years I've tried all manner of chemical options to get rid of the ant hills in our front yard which was making a total mess of the grass. The only thing that made them shut down a hive was Borax but it didn't get rid of the ants, they would simply move to new locations making even more of a mess. I don't dislike ants and value them in the environment and I tried getting to move some where else by flooding the hives with a hose on a daily basis, before going chemical. If they would have simply moved into the flower beds I would have left them alone but in the lawn around an apple tree and sour cherry bush wasn't making me happy especially with the wide patch's of black dirt they dug up.
Out of desperation I gave this a try, it's expensive but it worked the first time. Following the directions: ♦ Apply a total of three times over three days. ♦ Sprinkle out a good amount, for me that meant covering about 15% of the ant hills surface. ♦ After applying make sure to water the area. I watered the first two days and on the third there was a light rain.
After the first three days there was very little activity and after a week the hive was dead. I haven't seen a new hill pop up in my yard so I don't believe that they simply packed up and moved, I'd say the nematode formula wiped them out.
So while this is an expensive option it works better than all the other ant baits and chemical options I tried. I've already recommended it to my neighbors and they have had success as well.
