  These are obviously some sort of synthetic wool. The fit my 5" pad on my PORTER-CABLE 7424XP orbital sander, and I used one with some rubbing compound to cut away the heavy haze on my headlights, then I used another one with some finer polish to get a clearer finish. Finished them off with a hand applied coat of wax and they came out very nice for something that took me all of 10 minutes. BE careful, since the edges are a little rough so try to keep it flat on the surface you are polishing/buffing. Unlike bonnets on a circular buffer, these should not be used at an angle to the surface.
  The backing seems to hold on well even after washing the pads. Not sure how long they will last, but the price seems to be low enough that they are great for the odds jobs, and won't break the bank.
