  They work even with my current gimmick setup ( HDMI to monitor HUB that split video and audio signal through SPDIF port) then use it to connect the converter to a soundbar. Honestly, I am not seeing a difference beside the sound level. It is somewhat muffled if I have to describe it.
  
  Other than that, I will sometime use it when I know the TRS audio is bad and cause white noise on the sound card.
