- Reviewed in Canada on December 25, 2024I recieved the "Toddler Puzzles Montessori Toys for 3 4 5 Years Old, 6 PCS Wooden Puzzles for Kids''. When I opened up the Wooden Peg Puzzle package, there were 6 different wooden puzzles inside, each individually.wrapped in plastic. The puzzles include numbers, the alphabet, shapes with words, farm animals, wild animals and creatures that live in the sea. The wood is treated on one side with some sort of a shellac which doesn't smell. On the back of the puzzle board Is untreated wood which is smooth to the touch. The puzzle boards are approximately 9 inches wide by 12 inches in length. All puzzle peices have a small rounded plastic peg inserted in the middle of them for easy lifting and placing. With the farm animal puzzle, when you lift up an animal peg you'll see the exact same image underneath. This makes it easy for children to match up the identical items correctly. The alphabet puzzle has an image of an animal whose name starts with that letter as well as the letter itself. When you lift up that peg, underneath will only be a picture of the alphabet, not a picture of the animal. This is a great way to engage a child's mind to focus on the alphabet and to learn names of animals that start with that letter at the same time.The numbers puzzle is really well thought out. The peg matches the image underneath and in addition to that you learn about things that have a similar shape along with the corresponding number of items beside it that matches the number. For example, with the number 6, there are 6 mice beside it on the board and an image of a purple whistle which is similar in shaped to the number 6. The shape puzzle is good for young children and especially the ones that are learning how to read. The shapes are faces of animals and underneath you have the name of the animal and the name of the shape but not a picture of that animal. This encourages the child to match the outside of the shape to the puzzle piece and over time learn the names of those shapes. The creatures that live in the sea as well are similar to the farm animal puzzle in the sense that when you pick up a piece, the identical picture is underneath. This can also be found in the wildlife puzzle. This is definitely a fun way for young children to learn various shapes, numbers, letters and even animals. Even though this is geared towards young children, older adults with Alzheimer's/dementia could benefit from these puzzles as well.The media could not be loaded.
