I picked this up to replace my old mini rice cooker, which was on its last legs.
It takes about 20-30 minutes to cook a bowl of steel cut oats. That's ninety percent of what I'll ever use it for. I just start it up before I hop in the shower and it's ready to eat by the time I'm dressed.
The downside is the starch from the oatmeal usually bubbles up around the lid, leaving a bit of an unattractive film there. But it's a simple matter to scrub it off. Also, since the pot is non-stick and removable it's also easy to clean. For me, that's actually a huge plus.
