- Reviewed in Canada on April 6, 2021Great price. Its not weber quality, but at this price point, you absolutely cannot argue against this thing. It works and it works well. Holds lots of coals and the heat shield and handle properly keep the heat away.
I used probably the poorest quality hardwood lump coals (the bag even contained rocks...) and using two fire starters the coals were ready in about 15-20 minutes with no fanning (fast with it). I was a bit skeptical due to the bottom of the chimney not appearing to have enough airflow but it proved to be enough and works fine. You just need to be gentle with storage and transporting it the metal is not the strongest..but again, it works well! Some parts are not welded or fastened but instead are slotted within the chimney. For example, the square bottom grate is slotted into the chimney walls. This means if you very severely dent the chimney or bend it out of shape, it may pop out, but I'm sure it would be easily fixable by bending it back.
The metal does get 'discoloured' after being heated but this is 100% normal and expected. There was absolutely no chemical smells coming from the chimney during first use or in the coals while cooking - so this is 'issue' people are complaining about is a non-issue! No metal will stay the same color if it hasn't been treated with heat!
