- Reviewed in Canada on December 21, 2022We upgraded from another (also very good) Vantrue cam so that we would be able to download clips over WiFi instead of pulling out an SD card and using a PC. The Vantrue mobile app has been good and gives us the ability to trim videos as well as to sync them to our phone, which moves them to the phone's camera folder where they can be automatically backed-up to the cloud with Google Photos, etc. This makes it so much easier to backup and share clips!
Other notable features that have impressed us:
- The app displays a map of where we were while watching downloaded clips. It can also display live camera feeds, which helps when installing the camera and trying to position it in the best spot in the windshield.
- Most (if not all) dashcam settings can be adjusted from the app. This is much easier than changing settings from a dashcam directly.
- The voice commands are very responsive. I am amazed by how quickly they activate.
- The rear camera quality is excellent. It appears to be about as good as the front camera.
- Quality of nighttime video is just amazing. It's just about as good as daytime video.
- The physical build quality is impressive. The front unit is made of metal and has a nice weight to it.
- They have upgraded from Mini USB connections to USB Type-C connections.
- The remote is handy. I didn't think I would care, but I really appreciate it now that I have it in a good spot. It's nice for passengers, too, as they can disable the mic or create a locked clip without having to be familiar with the buttons on the camera itself.
- A couple of electrostatic stickers are included, which can be used if you want to try camera in a temporary position or don't want the installation to be permanent.
