  There are 3 settings. Steady, pulse (brighten and dim on about a 30 second cycle) and flame. To change from one to the next, turn off the power for 5 or so seconds.
  It's pretty good. It's not a miracle; it's an LED. It doesn't look realistic, and the flame pattern is a bit repetitive.
  BUT
  The price was very good. It's tough plastic and has been very durable. I made a fake boyscout campfire (for in the gym) and it's a workhorse. Price and reliability wise, it's a great deal.
