  I bought my GE fridge about 7 months ago so this is the first time I've had to change the filter. I'm not sure what the controversy is on this forum about the RFID chip. My fridge definitely requires filters with the chip and this filter definitely has the chip. I popped out the older filter, popped in this new one, ran a couple of gallons of water through it (to purge), and it's good to go. The filter arrived early and was at a much better price than i could find it anywhere else. Also, it appears to be a genuine GE part/product...not a knock-off. So, i recommend this product.
