This is a decent 2x1 HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps) switch that's reasonably well-constructed and for the most part works just fine without issues (except for the long switching delay). It's capable of supporting up to 8K@60Hz, 4K@420Hz, or 1080p@360Hz resolution/refresh rate etc., which is pretty impressive; however, it also lacks some advanced features that I'd like to have so that's a bit of a bummer. Note that NONE of the advertised resolutions and refresh rates (i.e. 8K@60Hz, 4K@420Hz, or 1080p@360Hz) is possible without additional technology since they require more bandwidth (see below) than what HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps, 42.6 Gbps effective) is capable of.

≡ Physical build
The physical build quality is reasonably decent in comparison to most other HDMI/DP switches that I've come across and in reviewed (several dozens) in recent years. It has the typical plastic shell which is the bare minimum and it's certainly nothing to write home about at this point in time; I would've preferred aluminum alloy nice despite the fact it doesn't necessarily feel cheap or flimsy but it's still nonetheless plastic and there is simply no comparison between a plastic case and one t hat's made of some sort of metal alloy.

In any event, it's still fairly compact and streamlined with round edges which I do appreciate and it's in fact amongst some of the smallest 2-port HDMI switches out there; however, it's far from great since it doesn't have any of the more advanced features commonly associated with other 4K/8K switches, such as a switching extender (button), PIP, and more importantly for me; short switching delays (and it's noticeably longer than many other 4K/60Hz switches unfortunately). Btw, no HDMI cable is provided and it also doesn't come with a remote, which is disappointing since many others do have that capability and it's sad to see that this one from UGREEN doesn't have it.

Btw, this also doesn't' have auto-skip although it's not really applicable here since this is only a 2-port switch but it can be quite useful for 3-, 4-, or even other multi-port switches.

There is nothing to setup (as they all are) except to connect the input and the output cables along with the power cable (might not be required at the cost of degraded picture quality; varies depends on setup, check yours first).

➤ Note
HDMI 2.1 is rated at 48 Gbps with 42.6 Gbps effective (i.e. usable) bandwidth. As such, it's simply incapable of 8K@60Hz (49.65 Gbps) standard videos or 4K@240Hz (54.84 Gbps) standard videos without additional technologies/features such as DSC (Display Stream Compression) or chroma subsampling; however, it's fully capable of 2K@240Hz (24.62 Gbps) or 1080p@360Hz (22.38 Gbps) on its own. As you've guessed, HDR videos has even higher bandwidth required although 2K@240Hz (30.77 Gbps) or 1080p@360Hz (27.97 Gbps) would still be supported by HDMI 2.1 without DSC or chroma subsampling.

≡ Switching delay
I've come across several DOZENS of HDMI/DP/VGA switches and splitters etc. over the years (since they first become commercially available) and similar to most other HDMI 2.1 (8K/60Hz/4K@240Hz) switches out there, it does have a rather LONG switching delay at about 3.821 seconds on average (averaged from 20 switching attempt each) and it's amongst some of the LONGEST ones that I've seen, which is quite unfortunate given the circumstance. It's not the worst in comparison to a few others out there (>=3.9 seconds or so) but it's bad enough in my mind.

For reference, the switching delay is noticeably longer/slower than many other 4K (120Hz/60Hz) switches out there (8K switches are mostly slower on average with 1080p being the fastest) whereas the vast majority of these HDMI switches (especially for 4K/60Hz) out there have a switching delay of close to 2.2-2.7 seconds (but few are as high as 3.x seconds, such as this one), which are somewhat useless to me and don't suit my needs at all. If you don't mind the long switching delays, then you have quite a few options out there; however, if you do care about it then perhaps skip this.

★ Note
It's always important to get HDMI 2.1/2.0 CERTIFIED CABLES if you truly care about performance and signal qualities especially in the long run. Shielding (or the lack of it) is one of the primary reasons for poor image quality and/or other weird quality issues that are difficult to troubleshoot and determine unless you can see electromagnetic waves (or fields specifically but I digress) because they are everywhere and we are flooded by them.

Cables with shiny surface from well-known companies do not mean they are HDMI 2.1/2.0 certified or even high quality (as I've found out the hard way). Of course, they are more likely to be better than some cheap and/or unknown brands but I've seen (and tested) many HDMI cables from well-known brands that don't even have the proper shielding wires despite the fact that they appear (i.e. look and feel) to be high quality. Btw, HDMI 2.1 certified cables are certified up to 48 Gbps or 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz whereas HDMI 2.0 is 4K@60Hz max.

In comparison it takes about 0.87 sec on average for one of my current 4K/60Hz switches but it doesn't come with a remote unfortunately (but it does auto-skip) and it's certainly not capable of 4K@120Hz. As another comparison, it takes about 1.13sec for another 8K@60Hz HDMI 2.1 switch and that's amongst some of the best performers out there with respect to switching delay; however, it doesn't come with a remote either and doesn't have auto-skip (a 4-port switch).

≡ Performance
I don't have an 8K@60Hz monitor/TV to test this with but I've tested 4K@120Hz with a LG TV and it appears to work just fine without issues. It does support a bandwidth of 48 Gbps, VRR, ALLM, HDR and HDCP 2.3 etc. although the color seems a bit off in some scenes when HDR is turned on. Like most other HDMI/DP switches (although it's uncommon for HDMI 2.1 capable ones, but I digress) out there, power isn't strictly required but video quality may degrade depending upon your individual setup so just keep that in mind.

≡ Remote and other features
This particular switch doesn't provide any other typical features that some others have, such as switch (button) extension, PIP, or auto-skip (especially important for 3x1 or 4x1 but I digress), and it also does NOT come with a remote which is rather disappointing to say the least. More than half of these HDMI 2.0/2.1 switches that I've come across and reviewed do come with a remote (usually powered by CR2032/CR2025) and the fact that this particular HDMI 2.1 switch from UGREEN does NOT have one is a major disappointment in my mind.

While we're at it, my ideal HDMI/DP switch would be at least 4x1, with remote, <=1.2 sec delay, auto-skip, and PIP (bonus). Unfortunately, this particular switch does have a long switching delay; otherwise, this would've been a much stronger contender against most other 8K/60Hz HDMI switches out there (although its lack of remote does put a damper on its overall versatility and usability in my mind).

≡ Value
All things considered, this is a reasonably decent 2x1 HDMI 2.1 switch that supports up to 8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz, or 1080p@360Hz (requires additional technologies/features). It's fairly compact with a streamlined profile; however, has a plastic shell along with a rather LONG switching delay (~3.821 sec) which is somewhat useless to me and doesn't necessarily meet my particular needs. It also doesn't come with a remote control that most others do have so that's again disappointing to put it mildly. It's somewhat reasonably priced at $26 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, versatility, and performance.

Again, if you don't care about the switching delay, then there are literally dozens of other choices out there. However, if you do care about the switching delay and/or would like to have a remote control or any of the more advanced features mentioned above, there are plenty other options and/or alternatives out there if you care to shop around. Your mileage might vary.

In any event, it's still fairly compact and streamlined with round edges which I do appreciate and it's in fact amongst some of the smallest 2-port HDMI switches out there; however, it's far from great since it doesn't have any of the more advanced features commonly associated with other 4K/8K switches, such as a switching extender (button), PIP, and more importantly for me; short switching delays (and it's noticeably longer than many other 4K/60Hz switches unfortunately). Btw, no HDMI cable is provided and it also doesn't come with a remote, which is disappointing since many others do have that capability and it's sad to see that this one from UGREEN doesn't have it.

Btw, this also doesn't' have auto-skip although it's not really applicable here since this is only a 2-port switch but it can be quite useful for 3-, 4-, or even other multi-port switches.

There is nothing to setup (as they all are) except to connect the input and the output cables along with the power cable (might not be required at the cost of degraded picture quality; varies depends on setup, check yours first).

➤ Note
HDMI 2.1 is rated at 48 Gbps with 42.6 Gbps effective (i.e. usable) bandwidth. As such, it's simply incapable of 8K@60Hz (49.65 Gbps) standard videos or 4K@240Hz (54.84 Gbps) standard videos without additional technologies/features such as DSC (Display Stream Compression) or chroma subsampling; however, it's fully capable of 2K@240Hz (24.62 Gbps) or 1080p@360Hz (22.38 Gbps) on its own. As you've guessed, HDR videos has even higher bandwidth required although 2K@240Hz (30.77 Gbps) or 1080p@360Hz (27.97 Gbps) would still be supported by HDMI 2.1 without DSC or chroma subsampling.

≡ Switching delay
I've come across several DOZENS of HDMI/DP/VGA switches and splitters etc. over the years (since they first become commercially available) and similar to most other HDMI 2.1 (8K/60Hz/4K@240Hz) switches out there, it does have a rather LONG switching delay at about 3.821 seconds on average (averaged from 20 switching attempt each) and it's amongst some of the LONGEST ones that I've seen, which is quite unfortunate given the circumstance. It's not the worst in comparison to a few others out there (>=3.9 seconds or so) but it's bad enough in my mind.

For reference, the switching delay is noticeably longer/slower than many other 4K (120Hz/60Hz) switches out there (8K switches are mostly slower on average with 1080p being the fastest) whereas the vast majority of these HDMI switches (especially for 4K/60Hz) out there have a switching delay of close to 2.2-2.7 seconds (but few are as high as 3.x seconds, such as this one), which are somewhat useless to me and don't suit my needs at all. If you don't mind the long switching delays, then you have quite a few options out there; however, if you do care about it then perhaps skip this.

★ Note
It's always important to get HDMI 2.1/2.0 CERTIFIED CABLES if you truly care about performance and signal qualities especially in the long run. Shielding (or the lack of it) is one of the primary reasons for poor image quality and/or other weird quality issues that are difficult to troubleshoot and determine unless you can see electromagnetic waves (or fields specifically but I digress) because they are everywhere and we are flooded by them.

Cables with shiny surface from well-known companies do not mean they are HDMI 2.1/2.0 certified or even high quality (as I've found out the hard way). Of course, they are more likely to be better than some cheap and/or unknown brands but I've seen (and tested) many HDMI cables from well-known brands that don't even have the proper shielding wires despite the fact that they appear (i.e. look and feel) to be high quality. Btw, HDMI 2.1 certified cables are certified up to 48 Gbps or 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz whereas HDMI 2.0 is 4K@60Hz max.

In comparison it takes about 0.87 sec on average for one of my current 4K/60Hz switches but it doesn't come with a remote unfortunately (but it does auto-skip) and it's certainly not capable of 4K@120Hz. As another comparison, it takes about 1.13sec for another 8K@60Hz HDMI 2.1 switch and that's amongst some of the best performers out there with respect to switching delay; however, it doesn't come with a remote either and doesn't have auto-skip (a 4-port switch).

≡ Performance
I don't have an 8K@60Hz monitor/TV to test this with but I've tested 4K@120Hz with a LG TV and it appears to work just fine without issues. It does support a bandwidth of 48 Gbps, VRR, ALLM, HDR and HDCP 2.3 etc. although the color seems a bit off in some scenes when HDR is turned on. Like most other HDMI/DP switches (although it's uncommon for HDMI 2.1 capable ones, but I digress) out there, power isn't strictly required but video quality may degrade depending upon your individual setup so just keep that in mind.

≡ Remote and other features
This particular switch doesn't provide any other typical features that some others have, such as switch (button) extension, PIP, or auto-skip (especially important for 3x1 or 4x1 but I digress), and it also does NOT come with a remote which is rather disappointing to say the least. More than half of these HDMI 2.0/2.1 switches that I've come across and reviewed do come with a remote (usually powered by CR2032/CR2025) and the fact that this particular HDMI 2.1 switch from UGREEN does NOT have one is a major disappointment in my mind.

While we're at it, my ideal HDMI/DP switch would be at least 4x1, with remote, <=1.2 sec delay, auto-skip, and PIP (bonus). Unfortunately, this particular switch does have a long switching delay; otherwise, this would've been a much stronger contender against most other 8K/60Hz HDMI switches out there (although its lack of remote does put a damper on its overall versatility and usability in my mind).

≡ Value
All things considered, this is a reasonably decent 2x1 HDMI 2.1 switch that supports up to 8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz, or 1080p@360Hz (requires additional technologies/features). It's fairly compact with a streamlined profile; however, has a plastic shell along with a rather LONG switching delay (~3.821 sec) which is somewhat useless to me and doesn't necessarily meet my particular needs. It also doesn't come with a remote control that most others do have so that's again disappointing to put it mildly. It's somewhat reasonably priced at $26 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, versatility, and performance.

Again, if you don't care about the switching delay, then there are literally dozens of other choices out there. However, if you do care about the switching delay and/or would like to have a remote control or any of the more advanced features mentioned above, there are plenty other options and/or alternatives out there if you care to shop around. Your mileage might vary.
