This headphone is a perfect example of why one really should listen to a premium headphone for a decent length of time before making a purchase. Listen with music you know really well. I think many if not most people would be delighted with the very smooth sound, which is proper, given the somewhat eye-watering price. However, I purchased the phones specifically for mixing in my little studio, and found the upper midrange to be slightly lacking, particularly when compared to various speakers. Thus, unfortunately for someone who likes to work late at night, in doing mixdowns, I find it necessary to check back and forth with speakers, rather than completely trust the sound from the phones. The build quality is excellent, with a basic metal frame rather than the usual plastic one finds sometimes in even very expensive phones, and which is guaranteed to break eventually under heavy use. Two sets of ear pads are provided, yielding subtle differences in sound, but the process for changing between them is extremely awkward and time consuming. Some might find the fit on the head to be a little tight, regardless of which earpad is used, but at least it is very secure. IN short, remember that headphone sound, even more than speakers, in my opinion, can be a little idiosyncratic. Be sure these phones are the "right fit" for you.
