I bought this charger taking a chance that it might work on my Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute Vacuum.
My barely over a year old charger quit working and thus eventually a dead battery. Because it is still on warranty I called Dyson to explain the situation. After numerous experiments on trying to figure out the problem, they were 100% sure it was a battery problem. I wasn't convinced and won't get into the long details.
To make a long story short, it worked and charged the battery with no problems. The charge time was about the same and I checked numerous times for possible heating issues on the charger. It got warm, but nothing to be concerned about. The heat gain during charging was no different than a charger for a cell phone.
For the price it works great. It is also a lot cheaper that the Dyson charger which is never in stock for some reason.
I'm just a bit upset that my still under warranty vacuum can't get a warranty covered charger in order to use the machine. It's quite sad that I have to turn to a different company and buy a simple item in order to use my machine that the main company can't seem to help me with. What good is a warranty if you can't honor it.

My Dyson v15 detect charger went after 2 years and from what Ive seen the OEM charger for my unit is always out of stock on Dysons website and also twice the price as this charger. Charger worksnthe same as the original Dyson charger does so far although Ive only had it a short while but there is no reason to believe it won't last and at half the price. Charging time on the v15 from empty to full is several hours with the OEM Dyson charger and this replacement charger chargers in same amount of time. Very pleased!
