About this item

HD 720P Rear-view Backup Parking Assist Camera puts out 720P HD video signals. The special wiring design and system firmware allow users to have a live rearview even when the vehicle is moving forward, avoiding obstructions caused by passengers, headrests and the vehicle’s roof & rear pillars, expanding the field of view, offering the driver an unimpeded view of the lanes behind and eliminating traditional blind spots.
It only works with ATOTO S8 Gen2 and Gen1 (firmware update required) car stereo models. The 720P video image quality is much higher than on traditional cameras that put out CVBS signals. This camera is not compatible with car stereos of other brands!
This camera has a 180° wide viewing angle and is specified for working with selected ATOTO S8 Android head units that come with VSV (Virtual Surround View) parking feature. An extra calibration cloth is included in the package, and the retailing price covers both the camera and the calibration cloth.
Easy installation. 2 mounting options: you could choose mounting either with or without the bracket included. A 8-meter-long extension wire is included in the package.
It does not work with ATOTO S8 MS,S8 UN,S8 PN, A5, A6, F7, X10 models, P5,P8,P9 series or car stereos of other brands.

Product Description

The traditional OEM factory surround-view system supplements the reversing camera with three more cameras – one in the front apron and one in each lower trim of the exterior mirrors. Based on the information supplied by all four cameras, the system generates a virtual bird’s eye view of the car and displays it on the in-dash car radio screen. It is also possible to switch between various camera views to improve visibility. As it is integrated into the factory car electric system, it has the status of turning lights and the current position of the steering wheel, so it has more options for drivers to use.

If you plan on installing an aftermarket 4-camera based surround-view parking assist system, you will find it too difficult to finish the installation. ATOTO VSV (Virtual Surround-View) rearview parking assist system on S8 (Gen2) models uses a single camera to provide a surround virtual top view, that captures and displays all the areas the camera has seen since it starts to work. That being said, it scanned & remembered all the surroundings since it starts to work, and rebuilt a dynamic, simulative but almost same-size ratio surroundings view. Your vehicle and barriers' positions will be distinguished easily.

Compatibility:

It is NOT compatible with A6 Series, SA102, S8AIO, F7 Series, or any other car stereo brands. It is only compatible with other ATOTO S8 Series Car Stereos.

Notes:

To use the VSV feature, you need to own an ATOTO AC-HD03LR rearview camera and a special ATOTO S8 (Gen2) Android car stereo that comes with an image stitching algorithm to let the ATOTO VSV feature work properly.
For users of For S8 (Gen1, manufactured before Jan, 2021), a firmware update is required for the LRV feature to work properly.

Park Your Car Easily - Experience Surround View Technology With Affordable Cost

ATOTO VSV Parking feature makes the threshold of experiencing a surround-view parking system lower enough for vehicles that initially do not have such a system. You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars to purchase a 4-camera based full surround-view parking system, plus hundreds of dollars for complicated installation. It is quite useful for a new driver and even an old hand who is parking a large vehicle (full-size sedan/SUV, van, light trucks) in a narrow or small space.

This product supports reversing into parking space, including parallel, perpendicular parking, and angled parking, but it DOES NOT work for forward parking;

How does the ATOTO VSV & LRV feature on the AC-HD03LR Work?

How VSV (Virtual Surround-View) works:

In the reverse operation, the camera installed at the tail transmits the environment that has been seen to the S8 in real-time, and the S8 unit performs image splicing, generating a dynamic virtual environment having a 1:1 size with the real environment;
Then based on the vehicle dimension data provided and its body movement, the system dynamically displays the approximate distance between the vehicle and the surrounding obstacles in the simulated environment established by the system in real-time. Drivers can make decisions on how to move further or backward;

ATOTO LRV (Live Rear-View) technology

Live RearView (LRV) Feature - Access Rearview even if the vehicle in moving ahead. This could remove obstructions inside the vehicle, increasing field of view and allowing the driver an unimpeded view of the lanes behind and traditional blind-spots. To use this feature, special wiring is required, see below for reference.

Easy Installation, compatible with specific ATOTO S8 models

Since it just has one camera and is installed on the back of the vehicle, so the installation is easy enough for most drivers, as long as you have experience installing an aftermarket backup camera. The traditional surround view system supplements the reversing camera with three more cameras – one in the front apron and one in each lower trim of the exterior mirrors. You have to ensure there are power supplies to all the cameras and wiring to side mirrors and front apron is really tough challenging. It may take even 3-4 hours for professional installers!

There is a specific calibration cloth in the package and will be needed as an assisting accessory in the image calibration step - to help S8 to understand, from the perspective of a computer, where the camera is and the relative position between vehicle's body and the camera. So, please keep it for further need, in case you may need a re-calibration operation, especially when the position or direction of the camera is changed expectedly.

A Few Notices That Are Important For Users to Know Before Purchase

The vehicle speed while in reverse is recommended to be within 10mph, moving too fast will cause the S8 screen to display slightly delayed surround view.
Drivers are still required to pay attention to the surroundings of the vehicle to avoid accidents, as the rebuilt surrounding view is not a real image of the surroundings, it is a live/dynamic image.;
The VSV algorithm can only generate a dynamic virtual environment view based on these images(30fps) the camera transmits. So the surround-view is only available for all the areas that have been seen by the camera during movement.
The surrounding view functin DOES NOT work on a vehicle that has trailer, or a vehicle that has protrusion part (like tow hook) in the back;

I got this camera for Christmas from my wife, install was fairly easy if you’re good with that stuff.. quality of camera is great! My only issue which is a fairly big one if the fact that the camera doesn’t work in COLD WEATHER. Once the weather is passed -1 C the camera screen goes black or flickers, most time doesn’t work until my truck is fully warmed up. I live in Canada and this can be a problem considering I use it most when backing out of my driveway. Overall this camera works great in warm environments, if you live in a cold place I would recommend trying something else.

I went with the ATOTO S8 Ultra, the ATOOT CA-AEC02 amp, the ATOTO AC-FCR04W front cam, and ATOTO AC-HD03LR rear cam. Those were all things I wanted, so I figured why not get all the same brand for compatibility. I'm going to post the same review in all of them.

First, I'm blown away by how premium the head unit is. I've got a 2015 Fiat 500L with beats audio. Adding the head unit first easily upgrade the audio. A TON of settings to dial in (I used ChatGPT) and honestly, I could have stopped there and not added the amp. I may not bother changing out the speakers. It's easily a HUGE upgrade by itself.

I added a sim and a sd card, downloaded a google maps offline map, all of my spotify playlists at highest quality and youtube music playlists. This way it uses very little data AND I no longer have to use android auto if I don't want to. I can finally leave my phone in my pocket while getting maps and music.

The amp. It's tight, but it fits behind the head unit. I had to clear out as much plastic behind the head unit as possible. Also, some people mentioned the head unit overheats. I bought a 2x 50mm usb fan on �鶹�� and hooked it up to the head unit (it has more usb that I'd use anyway). So, it comes on and off with the head unit and the amp will never overheat. Also went with the optical cable. This does improve the sound (not the same jump as stock radio to the S8 ultra, but noticeably cleaner). I love that I don't have to mount it under a seat or in the trunk. Again, I'm conflicted about getting speakers (I'm looking at some focals) but I'm also curious if this setup can take a good set of speakers to yet another level. Especially with the level of customization available (16 levels front and 16 back, cross over, loudness, time delay) you can really geek out.

Camera's are both good, no issues. The 360 view is trippy at first.

I didn't try the tire pressure monitoring, wifi hotspot, or gesture controls (not my thing). The sim card tray was just a little loose (a small piece of electrical tape on the back got it snug enough to fit and work).

Support was fast and helpful.

Going forward I'll be looking at ATOTO units in the future. I'm always going to be looking at an android setup and their stuff is top shelf so I genuinely have no reason to look elsewhere.

Cool top view feature. calibration works, but it's a little tricky to tap the screen just right to get into the settings sometimes. Tape a string with a weight on the bottom to the bumper to get the distance just right on the checkerboard. I've had it for over a year now, and it's getting a little foggy. For some cars, if you have a license plate light above the camera, it will interfere with visibility because of the glare. The license plate mount is NOT the way to go, it is too flexible and if you bump it on accident, it throws your calibration off. Use the static mounts and tighten them up nice and tight (without stripping the hole) once you get the calibration right. Also, it would be nice to have an option to have a non fisheye in reverse. Overall a good purchase.

This is my 2nd camera from Atoto. The first was installed in another vehicle and continues to work great. I got this installed (and obviously I am capable of correct install) but it has no signal output even though there are signs confirming it has power. Contacted atoto and they did respond asking for photos of the installation but it isn't currently installed because I had to remove it in order to get the oem camera to work again so my wife woudk at least have that, so now I have to install it all over again to prove that it doesn't work. Annoying.
