I've had mine for over a year now, so I'm comfortable giving it a good review now.
I use mine with my Windows 10 PC and as I recall it was plug-and-play. The keyboard is fairly small with the whole device about the size of a game controller (though much thinner and a bit taller than most controller's main body), and obviously not intended for typing long messages, but it's pretty great for keyboard shortcut based controls. The touchpad is not the most accurate and controlling it isn't terribly intuitive, though it does have graphics on the pad itself that explain well enough. You move the mouse as expected, by moving your finger around on it, and click by tapping. You scroll by putting two fingers on it at the same time and sliding your fingers up and down. Right click is done by tapping with two fingers (they call it 'double tap' which is accurate, but misleading IMO. 'Two Finger Tap' would be more clear.). I should point out that if the device is on standby (on, but the blue wireless light is off), then the mouse pad won't work, you'll need to press some other key to turn it on again.
The keyboard based shortcut controls work well with both Youtube (and other streaming sites) and media player playback. The media player buttons on the Rii work for the various media players I've tried, including Media Player Classic Home Cinema and VLC. They're effectively the same controls you find on a lot of keyboards these days. Basically, if you're someone used to using a keyboard to control your media player, this device will save you having to either put the keyboard on your lap, or otherwise reaching for it whenever you need to do something with it.
I charge it every two or three weeks on average, I think. Considering I watch videos on PC for at least an hour a day generally, and need to use it several times in that time period, the battery life isn't bad as after a short time the backlight turns off, and then a few minutes later it is a sleep. I leave the switch constantly 'on'. You just plug it into the dongle charging port for a while when you're not using it and you should be good for several weeks again. I have had it run low on battery a few times (an LED starts flashing) and you have a grace period to start charging it before it goes dead.
All in all, I recommend this to anyone who wants a more convenient way to control their video player and/or watching streaming video in Windows at least.
