I bought the device to play video files mostly as a replacement for a Samsung BD player that just stopped working after a few years of service and I did not want to spend the money for a new BD player that I was only using as a USB interface with limited video compatibilty.
I've had the device for a couple of weeks now and I'm now liking it more and more. As a few other costumers, I also have the issue with the HDMI video output not working for some reason every few days when I start the device. I also connected the TV using the RCA and find that this one is functional when the HDMI fails. I found that the best way to fix the video issue is just to unplug the power for a few seconds and restart.
So far all video formats I've tried worked flawlessly, no lag, no stoppage. I have some movies with vobsub subtitles. They are getting displayed but the font size is a bit small and I don't see an easy way to increase it.
Although I don't intend to view many photos/pictures with the device, I was surprised to see that all pictures were stretched to fit the screen without preserving the aspect ratio, I did not find an option to prevent this. Might be annoying for those who intend to use the device to run a picture slideshow.
I tried playing audio files that were in the M4A files with an AAC audio format which I thought were equivalent to AAC, but they were not recognized as music files. This is a bit disappointing, I recently converted all my music files from MP3 to M4A to be able to store more on my mobile devices.
Another thing I tried was to read DVDs and music CDs by attaching a USB optical drive. It did not work although the drive and disks were visible. Probably requires specific file formats.
The menu navigation is OK. I did not find a quick way to go up or down a list of files, seems we have to go through one item at a time.
Play mode seems to be limited to files within a single folder, forget shuffling multiple music folders. The files within a folder can be played one then stops, repeating a single file, repeating the list of files, or random. There is no way to play all the files in order and stopping at the end.

Started out great, did exactly what I wanted, easy to set up, ideal form factor. Only problem I had was there is no way to sinc poor quality content, but that is hardly it's fault. Problems started about 2 days into use. Simply stopped working. It is in the nature of the device that since there is no fan, or motor, when it stops working, you can't do much about it. It would turn on or off judging by the power LED, but that was it. Tried it on a different TV, worked fine, but within a day, same problem "no video"

So I love this thing, ordered another (this one), now I had two. It worked for a few minutes on the Samsung TV, then closed, down. I tried it on the Hitachi, wouldn't work at all. Since I had two AGPteks in the house, I was able to try different remote, box, cable, and TV combos to troubleshoot it. No luck.

Doubly disappointing as when anything doesn't work, but I really needed this to work, and it seemed so promising, and I really need something to play my USBs on my TV. This was great because unlike my Leelbox that crashed after about 6 months, these things aren't seemingly connected to the net, you don't get caught in updates, etc.... That is what killed the Leelbox.

Only upside was that when buying from �鶹��, you are covered, I first saw these on Ebay, and that would have been a real drag.

I had a great deal of difficulty trying to display my photos from my Nikon DSLR. The files are very large and of course there is a lot of detail in the photos. I am able to download them to my computer and that is not the issue. I just returned from a Mediterranean Cruise. Three days solo in Rome with the Colosseum and the Vatican, then the cruise with extensive daily excursions, and 11 days along the Italian coast, the Greek Isles, and Malta. 1600 photos to show the family!

You cannot gather around the computer! I tried everything to display them on my TV and my daughter’s TV and even through her BlueRay player. I tried SD card slots, USB connectors, etc., on the TVs and nothing worked. Her BlueRay player froze and locked up because of the size of the SD card?

Then I came across the AGPtek Black Mini HDMI Media Player. For an incredible low price, this device was a miracle worker for me. Such an easy device to use taking a USB Stick or a SD Card as an input for my photos. I was blown away when I saw all the photo, and movie, formats it could take. The 128 GB limit on the SD Card matched my new ‘high tech’ Nikon D500! So pleased.

Connecting the device using the HDMI input to my older flat screen TV was a breeze. The remote it comes with requires a bit of practice to use but makes sitting with friends or family to watch a photo show so very relaxing. For the first ‘show’, I had 8 family members see Rome, Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Crete. We are only half way done, ha, ha!

The display is totally lifelike through this device. So very compact and easy to setup! It is one of the best purchases for the price that I have ever made. Thank you so very much!

Dont plug in speaker power though the device though, you will need to plug in speakers (if needed) to wall outlet. Otherwise you will have reverb and the speakers will not work. Other than that the device is small, metal and very clean looking. I will be buying some double sided Velcro for it though because it is relatively light in weight.
