Product description
Diaphragm design. Used mostly for wettable powders fungicides. Diaphragm design more forgiving than piston due to powders abrasiveness. Large pump makes pressurizing quick with less pumping. - Reviewed in Canada on December 7, 2023Verified PurchaseAs it turns out it was to big for my weight.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 17, 2021Verified PurchaseI have used Chapin Sprayers my entire life and have never had a problem until now. I purchased two fo their backpack sprayers on here. I purchased the regular 4 gallon backpack sprayer and the diaphragm backpack sprayer for my powdered pesticides. Both sprayers are comfortable and have an excellent spray reach. I like everything about them other than the fact that the bolts they include to bolt the handle to the sprayer are not as strong as they used to be. Both sets of bolts broke off while I was pumping the sprayers. That has never happened on the sprayers I purchased in the past so I am thinking I got bolts from a faulty batch or something as both sprayers were purchased very close together. The problem is that I live in a very secluded area and none of the stores around here carry the correct size bolts so now I am stuck not being able to spray at a time that is most important to spray. right before the first frost. This is big inconvenience for me and now I have to plan a day to drive the hour and a half to the nearest town that has the correct sized bolts. Chapin should include a couple of extra sets in the box in case this problem should arise as I have had it happen twice on the last two I bought within a week of one another. Not impressed.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 3, 2025Verified PurchaseEmphasis...you need to continue to pump...build a rhythm of keeping the pressure up while you're spraying.
Make sure you set up the pump arm on the side opposite of your wand hand. It works fine once you get used to it.
Learn how much you can handle in terms of capacity. You don't want to be wrestling 4 gallons of liquid on to your back from the ground. If you do go for full capacity, place the pack on an elevated surface so that you can walk into the straps.
Speaking of straps. These are horrible. Too narrow and insufficient padding. The result is pinching and chafing of the shoulders.
Overall, for about 100bucks, this can be a useful sprayer. I think it's a good buy if you're in good shape and don't mind tweaking your product to make it fit your needs.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 1, 2022Verified PurchaseBought this sprayer less than 3 months ago to use around the house and for a few lawn customers. The pump lever has quite a bit of play in it and the pump itself is not able to create enough pressure as a result of that. Today the pump actually blew up on me while on a job.
The sprayer seems to be built with cheap materials which are not meant to last. After each use, I took the time to thoroughly wash out the sprayer and yet it still failed on me. FYI, I am certified in pesticide application and have been trained in the proper use and cleaning of sprayers.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 11, 2020Verified PurchaseThe harness could use a crossstrap on the chest to keep the shoulder straps on
- Reviewed in Canada on July 5, 2023Verified PurchaseWas looking for an economical sprayer to apply organic product to a vegetable garden. Found one on sale but was too busy to get to the store on time. Ordered this one, it was cheaper, good quality and was delivered on time . Only one complaint, the lid is a little finicky to thread on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased
Verified PurchaseThis sprayer conforms to uk legal requirements for professional users by being able to adjust pressure for different pesticides. As it is American the pressure adjustment is in PSI rather than bar but the calculation is14.5 PSI to one bar. It has four adjustments ranging from 15 to 60 PSI. (1 to 4 bar) The sprayer comes with a selection of nozzles, tools and instructions. It easy to put together, is well made and is comfortable to use.
Delivery time was as stated. On paper this looked like a good sprayer at a great price but in reality it is a great sprayer at a fantastic price.

4.0 out of 5 stars chapin 64800
Verified PurchaseThis backpack sprayer sure beats the hell out of my one gallon for exterior spraying. extremely fast volume output so you can get the job done fast. very accurate, sprays how and where you want it to spray. down sides; wand leaks a little if some fluid is left in tank, even if set to lock, 2; poly wand warps if left in mild heat for a short period of time. over all well worth the money save your self the hassle of mixing one gallon at a time. (so far I've put 3 full tanks in it no problems besides what described)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Overall Item
Verified PurchaseSolid Product and sprays well. It is a little tippy when set on the floor and has some balance issues especially when empty. The handle doesn't have a real smooth feeling pumping action to it... its hard to tell sometimes if its working but it is. These are relatively minor issues and overall it carrys a lot of weight in product and sprays it out quickly or slowly depending on your preference.
