Drowns extremely loud sounds out!
I live on the low level of an apartment building (2nd floor). Unfortunately for me the buildings dumpsters are located directly below my bedroom window, and garbage collection occurs between 6 -7 am every other day. You can imagine the jarring sounds of a dumpster being lifted, emptied, and then dropped by a garbage truck (see attached image). I had little hope that this little machine was any match for the sound made by the aforementioned truck/dumpster combo. Boy was I wrong! Since starting to use this machine a few weeks ago I have not been awoken a single time by the ruckus caused by the buildings garbage removal - to the point where I thought the garbage pickup schedule may have changed... So I got up early one morning to verify my hypothesis and to my delight the garbage truck was there right at 6am slamming down full size steel dumpsters. While I could still hear the sounds (because I was awake) they were successfully drowned out enough that my wife (laying right next to me) did not hear a thing. I still can't believe the power of this little machine... Definitely recommended to anyone thinking they need something like this.

    Anyone who needs a fan to sleep and is particular about the noise understands the struggle to find the right one when your forever fan dies. The one I used for the last 10 + years (!!!!) was on its way out and I wanted to get a replacement that didn’t take up too much space in the bedroom and could also easily travel with. I love this sound machine! I haven’t tried any others because I really thought I’d need the real deal fan sound. I’m not sure if this matches my other fan but it definitely does a great job with drowning out noises and allowing me to sleep much better. It’s compact and looks nice enough in the bedroom without taking up any space. It’s solid and doesn’t move around or get knocked out of place easily. While it is probably too heavy for me to take in my luggage on a flight, I bring it with me every time I go to the cottage and it’s so much smaller than carrying my old fan. I’m a fan. :)

    I found it loud at first even on the lowest setting. After a few days, I was feeling "meh" about it. I've used fans for years for noise and with our cold, dry winter approaching, I didn't want a fan blowing while I slept. After using this for over 6 months, I can't live without it. It definitely helps to drown out the noise. I've accidentally trained myself for this trigger sleepiness. I live in a small apartment. I turn this on ~1 hour before bed and it naturally triggers me to start feeling "sleepy". By the time I crawl into bed, I'm out like a light. I also find the noise soothing and relaxing. It's small enough to travel with as well. I'm thinking of buying a backup because I love it so much.
    *Update* September 2018. I purchased a second one of these for our baby's room. I immediately noticed that it wasn't as loud as the one mentioned above. With a newborn, the louder, the better. After two months of constant use, I noticed a rattle in the unit. Very slight but noticeable. I swapped out our bedroom one to use for now since you don't mess with a newborn's naps. I'm returning this one and reordering. I'm really hoping that the quality and build hasn't changed.

I have been using it for over 2 years now and it has really improved my quality of sleep. It is loud enough to dull sounds from the busy street we live on and now just hearing it makes me sleepy.     It arrived promptly and I find it solidly made. Several people I know recommended it to me for my partner who suffers from insomnia. She still wakes up but seems to go back to sleep. She's not sure if it works but she's been using it for a month and continues to use it so that says to me that she must find it useful. This machine is really great for kids as well (the kids I know, are very sensitive to noise and this works).
    The only glitch with the one I received is that only the loudest setting works but that doesn't bother my partner so I didn't return it. Great product. Everyone in the family is now using it.

    I am very disappointed with the quality of this machine. When I purchased it back in January I absolutely loved it! I bought it to cover the sound of my partners snoring at night and it worked perfectly. I was finally able to get a good nights sleep but it only lasted 4 months before breaking. It started making this annoying noise that won’t go away despite what setting I put it on so I can’t use it anymore. For paying close to $70 I was expecting a quality product. Now I’m out out $70 and I’m back to having a horrible night sleep. If you’re buying this product for nightly use I would seriously consider purchasing another brand.

    I think this is a great product. It sounds great, love the controls. However, mine failed after 2.5 years. It also failed in a worrying fashion. I heard a weird sound over the baby monitor speaker and went to check what was happening in the child's room. I discovered that the unit was overheating and it was producing a burning plastic smell that my child was breathing in. I contacted the company and their response was: out of warranty, sorry, but thanks for your business! No discounted replacements or anything like that. The company further assured that the unit has a fail-safe internal fuse, but I am not reassured. I'm pretty convinced that I received a defective product prone to early failure. I think this remains a great product, it's just disappointing to have to purchase a replacement after 2.5 years.

    Works like a charm. My sister-in-law recommended this product, she has one for both her kids (ages 2 and 4).
    In the past, I was using my iPad with Bluetooth speakers to play white noise for both my kids. Soon after I received it in the mail, I put it on for their naps (I have a 6 month old and a 3 year old). It works like a charm! Before this machine, everyone (including my 3 year old) was required to be on stealth mode soon after the 6 month old baby went to bed (at 6:00PM). Almost impossible with the 3 year old but he did his best. This machine cancelled out the noise we made upstairs as well as, it helped my son sleep soundly.
    As my husband and I listened to sound we both observed the sound it emits somehow clears your mind. Call me crazy. It works. I am happy with this product.

    Dudé mucho tiempo si comprar una máquina de ruido blanco. Intenté con apps, videos, ventiladores y nunca me funcionaron como esta máquina.     I’ve had a Dohm for I can’t remember how many years. It finally started making underlying weird metallic noises . This looks exactly the same except it has only one volume button, but you can turn the top holes open or closed. This doesn’t make much difference. It is plugged in and has a manual on/off switch. But it is so loud I think most people wouldn’t like it. I’ve been using a fan app on my phone. BUT in order to turn that on or off you have to pick up the phone and hit the app. The light wakes me up from either my morning sleep or nap. Many reviews say this is short-lived so I will see.
