I have not used this as yet. I have other chip wood box but I believe this one will produce a lot better. Made from heavier gauge metal and lots of holes on top & bottom to produce a better smoke, also top has Ha dle so it opens easier. A little pricey but ya get what you pay for.

My review is based on theory, not use. I am researching the use of products that impart smokey BBQ flavour to my meat. I use a gas-fired convection style BBQ. I have yet to actually purchase a smoker box, so please keep that in mind. After reading the reviews below, I wondered if the folks who complained of warping were using their smokers on a charcoal grill (where temperatures can exceed 1,000 degrees). I look forward to any future posts that can clarify what works, rather than that something doesn't work but that opinion doesn't explain the conditions that resulted in the disappointment. If I offer any help in a buying decision, please let it be that there is no such thing as too much information. And we know, at least in politics, how NOT knowing can lead to buyer remorse.

Used wood chips that had been soaked, you just have to keep an eye on it and top up the chips quite often. I used the smoker on top of the grill itself and it was fine. Cannot wait to use it again.

Well, I just bought a Weber Spirit E310 bbq based on 2 years of research, so I thought I'd get this smoker box to use with it. Reviews from the big box home build stores weren't that great and neither were the ones on Weber's own website for this smoker box, but I thought that maybe some people maybe just received bad samples. So, I went ahead and bought one here on �鶹�� anyway. After the first use, the lid warped, just as many others have claimed. It's still usable, but I have my doubts as to how long this will last. The design is good (with holes on the bottom and top)...but I can't for the life of me understand why they would opt to use stainless steel instead of CAST IRON! For $35, I'd expect a better built, longer lasting, heavier unit. I'm debating sending it back (Weber would send me a replacement, no questions asked) but I'd just be getting another cheap ass, weak material box, that would also warp, same as the original. I've got a couple of cast iron alternatives in my cart from other manufacturers, which I think I'll try. Honestly, Weber...what are you thinking??!! You build great quality grills that last 10-20 years, with porcelain coated cast iron grates and high strength, thick boxes; yet the smoke boxes (which need to be on high heat to get the wood chips to smoke every time it's used) you make out of cheap, thin stainless steel. Sorry for the rant, but for $35+tax, I expected better, especially when a good cast iron one from a competitor costs $5-10 less, and will last for years

I bought this for my Weber Spirit grill because I wanted to try smoking some bacon.

I was hesitant to buy it because I've had previous less than stellar results with smoker boxes but this one has changed my opinion on them.

It takes a bit to get the smoke going but once it does it produces a nice thick cloud for about 20min and then you need to pop open the lid and refill it.

Nothing like homemade Applewood smoked bacon, and much more affordable than buying a dedicated smoker.

The box arrived as described and well packed. Very happy with it. For those that don't know you place this box in a gas BBQ and concert it to a smoker. No need for buying an extra smoker. Yes it is more difficult to keep the temps right but honestly doable with a little practise. The only way one could improve the box would be with a handle to open it easier while in use since you have to open it a few time to reload wood hips if you are smoking bigger pieces of meet.
