Purchased dec. 25 2024 and since april 2025 the enclose keeps disconnecting to a point where i can no longer watch anything on my hdd. I purchased a second one and it works really well without any problems at all. I have 2 more enclosure from Ugreen but a little different and those work great. Maybe the one i got is just defective. I love Ugreen products but this one was a waste of $40.

To be honest, for the price, it's hard to argue with this enclosure. It's well built, pretty solid, looks good enough, is quite polyvalent in term of what you can put inside and even comes with all the necessary cords. The tech's there really, good USB 3.0 speed combined with the right chip inside to speed things up. All around, at that price point, it's a great product. Now, if I'm to say one thing which is truly a shame it would be the lact of proper ventilation on the top of the enclosure. A few holes or slits would've made this product near perfect. There's slits on the bottom but the cover only has a dot graphic design. No real holes, unfortunately. If I'm to be really picky I would also say that they could've provided an extra cushion to properly brace the back on the drive. While the cover has, at the far end, a few plastic bits to try to hold the disk in place it doesn't do a good enough job of it and if you were to give the enclosure a strong enough push the disk inside would be at risk of disconnecting. Now, you shouldn't use any enclosure aboard a jeep while going 40MPH across untamed land. Of course. So that's me being picky.

Great product. With proper airflow it would've been even better.

I needed to replace a couple of aging USB2.0 enclosures. These were a perfect price and option to do that. I really like that they have a power on/off button but it can be well hidden as it's just a small little push button. The friction lock to hold the drives is great. Provides excellent performance and a USB3.0 interface. The drives power down when not being accessed after a short period of time. I haven't had any issues with heat (so far) but having some form of ventilation on the top of the case could be nice if these were to be used for extended periods of time (backups, etc). The only thing I would REALLY like to see a future upgrade to the USB-C interface on the USB3.2 standard rather than the USB3.0 type B. It's a minor drawback but something I'd consider on future purchases.

I tried it with a 2TB HD. It works as expected but missing important feature. There is no screws for fixing HD to the body of this enclosure and also the door locks with 2 plastic gear to the body and no screw for attaching door to the body meaning it is possible you hold the enclosure by its door and body slides and drops. Also it is very possible the HD slides inside the device and disconnects from internal SATA connector. Also this device is not designed for everyday use with different HD as insertion and removal of the HD will cause loosen HD inside the enclosure. I have not have a chance to test performance and other features of this product.
