This works great. Throughput is as advertised. I'm not used to the fan noise but I've been working on a silent M1 Mac Mini for 4 years so I've been spoiled. It's not loud at all, but if you're used to silence, you'll notice. You can reduce this by positioning it strategically as possible with the short cable. I paired this with a value 4TB NVME 4th gento replace/supplement the 256GB SSD in my Mac Mini M4 using Thunderbolt 4. I had my doubts as to whether it would make much of a difference and whether it was worth the effort to set it up as the primary boot disk, but its over 3x faster than the internal SSD, and the price is very good. The build quality is very good, it feels sturdy and came with a thick, solid feeling cable, and given that the 2 TB upgrade from Apple is a $1200 option, I highly recommend it, if you don't mind a drive hanging off the back of your Mac Mini.

I bought this enclosure as an upgrade from a USB 3.1 enclosure. Read and write speeds are now about three times faster.

Build quality is great. The product is solid and heavy. Installing the SSD took only a few minutes. Extra screws and a screwdriver are included.

Unfortunately I can’t keep the enclosure plugged in all the time. It runs hot - even when there are no applications running and the computer is locked. The fan also turns on and off every 30 seconds or so and is audible in a quiet room.

Data transfer with a NVME SSD M2 drive starts off at about 2.5GB per second, as long as you're transferring under 100 GBs worth of files. As soon as it runs longer than a minute the transfer speed drops off. Fan kicks in, but it is not enough to keep it cold and running fast. Read isn't as much as a problem as write is.

Best looking enclosure - too bad it runs hot, will be returning both.

As you knew that I ordered once of this product but got something else in the box. I returned it immediately and purchased another one. I just received the new ordered device tonight. On my first sight, it looked great and seemed a very high quality product. I was dying to install my new Samsung V-Nand SSD 990 Pro 2TB, one of top and fastest SSD on the market, on it. It fits the specification of the enclosure. Here are the conclusion about this test:

1. I have HP Envy 11th Gen Intel i7-11800H 2.30GHz laptop, which had never reorganized the new SSD enclosure at beginning. I spent 3 hours researching that I found the SSD enclosure created a Storage Pool in Windows 11. It was occupied so the Disk Manager never showed it up. Not sure why and how this happened. I deleted the Storage Pool, it showed up on the Disk Manager.

2. I used EasePartition app to format and partition it, it always failed with an unclear error message. Eventually I had a good try using Disk Manager and started to test use it.

3. It does backward support USB3.1. but never worked with Thunderbolt 3, not to say version 4. The computer does not even recognized it when plugged in through TB3 port.

4. When connected through USB3.1, I was transferring 70GB video files to the SSD. The start speed was okay about 250mb/s to 330mb/s, but dropped to 20mb/s after half of loads. It was so disappointed. Stayed at 20mb/s for about 10 mins then speed up again but up to 250mb/s. Very unstable and very disappointed.

It seems working with USB3 but unstable, still dead with Thunderbolt 3. For this price, it is unacceptable. Our mission critical data transfer cannot rely on such an unreliable enclosure like this. It seem to me that his device and its system design has flaws for sure! I am returning it again and buying a better one.

When I opened, I am completed shocked and laughing. The box is about product, the manual is about the product, however, the item is not the device I purchase. Someone putting another unrelated device (something Orico) in the product box. Unbelievable and wasting my time and efforts. :(

Ich habe lange mit mir gerungen, bevor ich das Case von Ugreen bestellt habe. Zu schlecht waren meine bisherigen Erfahrungen mit 40 Gbps-Cases anderer Hersteller. Umso größer war die Freude als ich es dann nach dem Auspacken und dem Einbau der SSD dann an meinem MacBook in Betrieb nehmen konnte...

Dabei ist das, was man nicht bzw. so gut wie nicht hört, die allergrößte Überraschung und für sich genommen bereits Entschädigung für den durchaus nicht kleinen Preis: Der Lüfter im Gehäuse ist wirklich sehr leise. Die nächste Überraschung kommt bei der Performance-Messung - hier überzeugt das Case dann endgültig. Es holt aus meiner Crucial das bei 40 Gbps praktisch zu erwartende Maximum heraus und damit hat sich dann meine Investition endgültig ausgezahlt - endlich eine wirklich schnelle externe SSD.

Die Verarbeitung des Metallgehäuses ist makellos. Der beigefügte Kühlkörper und das Wärmeleitpad sind ebenfalls brauchbar und dank der Tatsache, dass dieses Gehäuse (mit einer Schraube, Schraubendreher liegt bei) verschraubt wird, ist direkte eine Kontaktfläche zwischen Kühlkörper und Gehäuse gewährleistet und damit die bestmögliche, durch den integrierten Lüfter unterstützte, Wärmeableitung. Der (abnehmbare) Gummi-Bumper schützt das Gehäuse beim Transport vor allzu harten Stößen - ist aber im Grunde mehr Designmerkmal als wirklich notwendig - SSDs sind unempfindlich gegenüber Erschütterungen.

Ein Punkt, der vielleicht dann doch erwähnenswert ist, ist die Hitzeentwicklung. Im Betrieb wird das Gehäuse warm. Die SSD selbst bleibt allerdings im operablen Bereich und überhitzt nicht. Für mich ein indiz, das Wärmeableitung und Wärmeausleitung funktionieren. Materialbedingt ist das Gehäuse - nebenbei bemerkt - etwas schwerer als andere Gehäuse. Insgesamt ein rundum gelungenes Produkt - deshalb auch kaum der Rede wert, das es auch in einer ansprechenden Verpackung daher kommt, die positiv durch wenig Plastik auffällt.

Noch ein Rat: Das Case ist fast immer in irgendeiner Rabattaktion zu haben - selten wird der volle Listenpreis von zur Zeit rund 130 EUR fällig. Ich habe am Ende 89 EUR bezahlt. 89 EUR sind zwar auch kein Pappenstiel - aber für Verarbeitung und Performance aus meiner Sicht angemessen.

Soy una persona que usa discos SSD para guardar los trabajos y son archivos de video en 4K- 8K y muchas fotografías por lo que necesito ligereza a la hora de manejar los archivos de un sitio a otro o para montar en los mismos discos directamente en bruto, sin pasar por el Mac. Así que por este motivo me sale mas rentable comprar los NVMe y carcasas de este estilonque los discos SSD ya montados y que suelen ser mas caros y a la vez mas lentos.

Todo esta heco en aluminio, cosa que ayuda muchísimo a la disipación de calor, calor que he de decir que es muy poco para tratarse de una refrigeración pasiva, pensé que se iba a calentar más, pero no pasa más allá de los 35º-40º en uso intensivo y ya os digo, solo es pasiva, no lleva ventilador ninguno por lo que no has de preocuparte por el ruido.

La instalación de disco es sencilla a mas no poder, os he dejado fotos de como se hace, básicamente se reduce a quitar un tornillo, abrir la tapa, meter el NVMe, poner el transmisor de calor (acuérdate de quitar ambos plásticos), volver a poner la tapa y atornillar. Listo, ya lo tienes para ser usado en tu maquina.

Para que veras la velocidad que se puede alcanzar, os he dejado unas capturas de pantalla de prueba de velocidad hechas con Speed Test De Blackmagic, una esta hecha sobre el disco de mi propio MacBook y la otra sobre un NVMe Crucial P5 conectado a esta carcasa usando un cable Thunderbolt 5 (te vale el que trae en la caja o un Thunderbolt 4). Como podeís apreciar la velocidad del MacBook es superior, pero todo dependerá del NVMe que tu pongas en la caja, hasta un limite que es el de los 40Gbps.

✅ Además es más económico que otros, incluso sin aplicar el cupón del 30% con el que lo compré.

EDITO: Tras comprar una segunda unidad, al ir a poner el SSD me he encontrado con que si lleva ventilación forzada, es decir, lleva un pequeño ventilador como podeis ver en las fotos nuevas que he subido y donde marco donde se encuentra este.
Aun así, esta silencioso, tanto que apenas se oye cuando se enciende, salvo que lo haga al máximo y tampoco es una cosa que moleste. Tengo otras carcasas de marcas muy conocidas y que podeis encontrar aquí en �鶹��, que que cuando se enciende el ventilador parece un reactor, no es el caso de estas carcas de UGREEN. Sigo manteniendo la misma opinión de ellas.

Sin duda, una compra 💯 recomendada.

Soy una persona que usa discos SSD para guardar los trabajos y son archivos de video en 4K- 8K y muchas fotografías por lo que necesito ligereza a la hora de manejar los archivos de un sitio a otro o para montar en los mismos discos directamente en bruto, sin pasar por el Mac. Así que por este motivo me sale mas rentable comprar los NVMe y carcasas de este estilonque los discos SSD ya montados y que suelen ser mas caros y a la vez mas lentos.

UGREEN ha hecho un gran trabajo con esta carcasa, desde que la sacamos de su caja ya vemos que se trata de un producto de calidad.
