I hope you enjoy them." - From the lo-fi exploration of LA Garage Sessions '83, serving as a crucial link between Nebraska and Born in the U.S.A., to the drum loop and synthesizer sounds of Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, The Lost Albums offer unprecedented context to 35 prolific years of Springsteen's songwriting and home recording. "The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions," Springsteen explained. Throughout the set, that sonic experimentation takes the form of film soundtrack work (for a movie that was never made) on Faithless, country combos with pedal steel on Somewhere North of Nashville, richly woven border tales on Inyo, orchestra-driven, mid-century noir on Twilight Hours and E Street favoured rock on Perfect World.

    Haven’t heard the music yet, but I’m sure it’s great, and I’m sure it deserves at least 4 stars, since everything Springsteen ever did is worth at least 4 stars. My review and rating is for the packaging of this box only. I don’t know who designed this box set, or approved the design, but it looks and feels like it was designed by a gorilla. Huge monster of a box with a delicate sticker that needs to be carefully peeled away just to look inside. Big cavernous cardboard waste of space, a cardboard box within cardboard box, with a useless tight paper band enveloping the inside box that needs to be delicately slid off. The CD’s then fit into sleeves which need to be carefully popped into spaces with cardboard tabs. I don’t know what they were thinking. The whole package isn’t attractive or functional, it’s way larger than it needed to be (was that the clever strategy to justify charging almost 400 bucks for 6 CD’s?) and the amount of effort required to get inside the box may discourage repeated listening.

    I’m on my fifth full listen through each album in this Tracks II box set, and I still find myself floored by the quality and emotional power of these songs. As someone who’s been a Bruce fan since ’78—and who has chased shows all over the U.S. and Canada—this release feels like a gift I never expected.

    Every volume is packed with moments that hit as hard as anything in his official catalog. The long-whispered-about “Streets of Philadelphia” sessions (sometimes mistakenly rumored as his 'hip-hop album') are finally here, and they deliver. "Inyo" is a complete revelation. "Somewhere North of Nashville" more than holds its own even after the towering achievement of "Western Stars". And dammit, all those bootlegs I bought or traded for in years past are null & void when I hear the "LA Garge Sessions '83" on pristine sounding vinyl (oh, yeah ... get the vinyl!!!)

    The whole set is beautifully packaged, and the sound is stunning. To hear this many unreleased songs, most of them album-worthy in their own right, is something I feel incredibly lucky to experience. Bruce isn’t just opening the vault—he’s letting us live in it for a while.

    If you’re a longtime fan, Tracks II will break your heart open in the best possible way. If you’re new to Bruce, this is still worth the journey. The man never stopped writing, and now we get to hear what he was holding back. Pure gold.

    Bit the bullet on this box set. I think Bruce is testing our loyalty on this one To put it in Brucology it's alot of bread man. However cracked it open and started listening one cd at a time. The first LA Garage is a peach of an album and have given it about 8 plays before moving on to disc 2 which I am getting into at the moment. So far its hard to understand why disc 1 wasnt released back in the day. Well I can it is Bruuuuuuuuu. So far well happy with what I have heard so far and will report back in a month or so month when I have heard heard all seven albums.5 STARS BRUCE

    Diese Box ist ein künstlerischer Triumph und eine unglaubliche Schatztruhe. Viele Jahre war tracks 2 ein Mythos, der unter Fans kursierte. Jetzt ist der Mythos Wirklichkeit und übertrifft alle Erwartungen.
