Our long-range coverage enables its use in areas challenging for most residential Wi-Fi systems, such as basements, outdoor porch/patio areas, sheds, free-standing garages, even remote outbuildings on your property.
  • Early-Warning Notifications - Receive real-time early-warning notifications in the form of smartphone banner alerts, limited SMS/text messages, and emails, each optional and configured per your needs; Please note: YoLink Door Sensor does not alarm or chime, it only sends notifications; For an audible alarm, consider our Siren Alarm
  • Low-Power Means Longer Battery Life: Because of the low power consumption, device batteries may last 5 years or more (depending on application and device usage/activity), on standard AAA Alkaline batteries (lithium batteries not required)!
  • From Simple to Super-Smart: After setting up your notification preferences, keep it simple and let the YoLink system do the rest and monitor your home and property for you. Or, utilize available advanced automation features, including 3rd-party integration with Alexa and IFTTT, to interact with other YoLink and 3rd-party smart devices. Limited only by your imagination!
  • Plug, Plug & Play! Plug Hub into an outlet, plug Hub into your router, scan in new devices, and enjoy your new system, in minutes! Your Hub is the only device that connects to the Internet, and a wired or WiFi connection is required (wired required for easy & fast Plug, Plug & Play, and most reliable and secure connection). WiFi connection set-up difficulty varies and requires changing settings to your network and/or your phone Changes to your network, passcodes, etc, require changes in the app.

Long story short, these two guys came to my house to clean my heating ducts and started to make really weird jokes about how they could rob me of my stuff and then resell it back to me. I didn't like that at all.

So I came to 鶹 to see what sort of solutions existed in this day and age, before I considered getting a professional home security system that you pay for every month etc. Yes, that option is by far the best if you want 100% peace of mind.

That said, I wanted to give this product a try and here's what I have to say about it:

PROS = everything is relatively small so it doesn't take up a bunch of space. The piece that connects to your router is the size of a smoke detector and can be set up on a wall, or leave it on the floor like I did, next to the router. I plug it in with the cable rather than WIFI, it's that much more reliable that way. It comes with 4 detectors, which is exactly how many I needed (2 windows and 2 doors).

Once you're set up, you have to go into the app and click a few times to get to the alarm scenario you want to activate once you've left your home. Sometimes the app takes a few more seconds to launch and find your scenario.

I absolutely love that I can see the situation anywhere I am, you can see in the app the status of each detector. I also love that I was able to get notifications sent to my smart watch (it sends an email if something is going on)!

    CONS
Set up is wonky and rather unintuitive. Others have said so too. I spent more time than I wanted to on the software setup. IMPORTANT: don't do what I did, scan each detector BEFORE you stick it to the spot!! I installed a detector (after having to modify the door frame because it didn't fit naturaly) and then I had to scan it to include it in the software and I couldn't get my damn phone to see the QR code properly - and once you stick it to the door or wall it's over!!

Also important: even though it has really good sticking glue some of the detectors eventually fall off. I tried hot glue and what not, nothing seems to work. I resorted to ugly black electric tape and so far this is the only thing keeping the detectors in place, for the ones that come off. It depends on the surface, and you should probably up your chances of success by cleaning the surface before sticking them on, which I did not do.

I bought the siren alarm to go with it, the sound is alright but not scary alarming loud.

Am I happy so far? YES! I can see what's going on when I'm away, I get prompt warnings if something is happening, and once the set up is figured out you're good to go.

Been using this for a little while now and I like them. Good peace of mind knowing that you will be notified if the door is opened when you leave. Also good if you have school aged children who now come home after school so you can keep tabs.
Initially I thought it was an alarm but these send an alert to your phone through an app and can also send as text. You can alter the noise so that it can make more of a distinct sound. It would be nice if I could preset the sounds to change automatically from the day time to night time so that at night I could get more of a strong alarming sound to wake me, but I haven't found a way to do it.
So far they are working very well, and were very easy to set up for me.

    The Good Parts

    - Very easy to set up and add sensors to hub, thanks to the QR codes printed on each device
    - Well priced for a hub with 4 door sensors
    - Native app notifications for iOS and Android worked well for me.
    - The margin of error for the door sensor to stay "closed" is pretty good in that it can accommodate some irregular door and trim
    - Integrates with Alexa, Google and IFTTT (did not try, as they aren't critical for my use case)
    - Includes ethernet cable, micro-usb cable and charger

    Hit or Miss

    - The history view in the app is clunky, it's a grid as opposed to a list.
    - SMS notifications require a subscription, although I found the app notifications to be satisfactory
    - Would be nice if it could connect to the local network via wifi instead of ethernet
    - Depending on the door you're installing on, the contours of the trim, etc can make installation difficult, especially if the surface is not flat. Having some additional double-sided tape, putty, etc. will come in handy in this situation. I had one tricky door frame trim where I had to use a hot glue gun to level off the sensor magnet.

    The Not So Good Parts

    - Changing the battery on a sensor is/will be a pain, as you need to unscrew the front panel of the sensor (would have preferred a latch). Depending on the location and orientation of the sensor, it can be a real pain, as you may have to hop on a chair/ladder and unscrew from the top.

Great way to keep your landlord accountable, it has a history to log each time the sensor activates, handy for tracking unauthorized entry to your unit. It can also be setup with Alexa to yell when someone opens the door. I have it set loud enough to wake me up from sleep wearing earplugs, and it is reliable, so good peace of mind. I would recommend having the hub set on a UPS with your router so it continues to work in the case of a power failure.

Ideally your landlord won’t be as shady as mine, but if they are, this is a good way to remind them that they can’t do whatever they want.

I was hesitant at first. But I’m pretty good with technology so the set up was pretty straight forward. I watched some videos on their website via the QR codes on the instructions manual. USE THE QR CODES. set up everything as listed in the instructions. WATCH THE VIDEOS. this process took me no longer than 20 minutes. If you have some common sense and common knowledge on using your smartphone- use it.
This product was a good purchase and I would recommend this to anyone looking for door sensors that connect to your phone.

We have tested various devices for a few weeks. I have to say that we are very pleased.

The first thing we noticed when unpackaging was that everything seem to be designed and made with attention to detail and care. That was a little surprising for us. Many times you get cheap packaging and apps that look like they were created in a single afternoon. Not so in this case. We had to double check to verify that this is a start up company. By all outward indications, it feels like it’s a well polished company that has been in business for quite some time. All manuals and set up information is available online. Do not expect much in the box. We had a little difficulty finding the information we needed at first but we were grateful, and still are, for the fast response from the company.

Since we mentioned the company, we have to note that any kind of support request is answered promptly, even at odd hours of the night. That was surprising. But they have always been friendly and helpful, even when we should have checked product documentation first.

The initial set up was a little challenging with Wi-Fi. But that is not due to product limitations. It is due to limitations on the wireless routers we used. The wireless routers we used did not allow us to separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. This system uses the 2.4 GHz network, which is needed in order to have the range. In the end, which simply hooked up the network hub to the router using the provided ethernet cable. Everything has been pretty much smooth sailing. Again. The system requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If you have trouble getting it to connect wirelessly, the issue is almost certainly your wireless router failing to separate the two networks or failing to allow the device onto the 2.4 GHz only. It’s not a product limitation or defect. Our recommendation is just to hook it up with the ethernet cable since the range is very long, anyway.

Before using the system, we recommend updating the firmware on all devices manually. Depending upon how long it has been sitting in the 鶹 warehouse, you may have an older version of firmware and might experience a few bugs. That was our case. We had a few problems with erroneous notifications that were rectified as soon as the firmware updated. The update, you find the firmware version in the device and tap it. The firmware does update automatically. But if it’s your first time setting up, it’s good to manually update the devices. We would love to see a way in the app to review the firmware status of all devices on one screen and manually trigger a firmware update for all devices from that same screen with a single click. But this is merely a want, not a flaw.

Do not forget to edit the alarm strategy before you start using the system. It appears to default in the app to multiple strategies, which can mean getting an app notification, an email notification, and or text message notification each time something is opened or motion is detected. That might be something to look into on the app development side as far as prompting you during set up to choose your desired preferences.

We have had no difficulties with the devices maintaining contact with the network hub. The network hub has reported itself going offline once or twice overnight, but this appears to be momentary and related to a firmware update automatically applying and automatically rebooting the device.

Battery life so far appears to be really good.

We are surprised by the quality of the 3M self adhesive tape on each one. There is no alcohol wipes provided, but we used simple rubbing alcohol and a cloth to clean the surfaces prior to sticking the devices on. You can do similar or just make sure that it’s really clean. As a test, we applied some of the devices to a surface that was not prepared/cleaned ahead of time. those devices have no problem sticking to the surface and have not fallen down. They appear to be well secured when we try to tug on them.

We would love to see the adhesive strips offered as a replacement item for purchase. We can see down the road people moving devices around, say if they’ve changed their minds about location or if they move. We had also thought about having an extra mount for the motion sensor so we could move the motion sensor between different locations at different times. This was because we were only able to buy a limited quantity due to inventory at that time. But that is something that others might be interested in purchasing at a later date.

The motion sensors have been updated to include sensitivity adjustment. They can be pretty sensitive, detecting slight movement even in the dark. We have no complaints. The range and spread appear to be great.

The door/window sensor performs equally well. it can be mounted in virtually any orientation and still function so long as the sensor portion of each piece is within about 1/2 of an inch to the other. so you could even mount one of them at a 90° angle to the other. So long as they are within that distance to each other, they still function perfectly. We found this to be necessary with one door where we had a proper clearance on the door but did not have proper clearance on the frame.

The products integrate seamlessly with IFTTT.

We would love if the temperature/humidity sensor had the option to show more frequently than one hour on the history graph in the app. But the graph is clean, uncluttered and easy to read.

We will soon be testing additional products. We are adding additional door sensors and motion sensors to the system, which will then have approximately 20 devices connected. We are also going to be testing for the first time the garage door motion sensor (ordered). We were originally going to test the motion sensor/ garage door opener combo, but none of the garage door openers we have available appear to be compatible. Afterwards, we will test additional devices on our “wish list.“

We have found zero indication of user data tracking, analytics tracking, or communication with ad servers on the app. It really does appear to be simply designed to do what it is supposed to do and nothing more. It’s refreshing.

So to summarize, we can’t really find anything wrong. We have struggled to find anything to critique with the devices or the app. Everything works as intended and we are extremely pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solved a problem I’ve been struggling to find a solution for over a year!
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2022
    Verified Purchase
Let me start my review by saying first of all, this is a great product. Easy to install, easy to use, great support, everything you could want for a smart home product.

I live in an apartment complex, and I have a detached garage that I have struggled with since I got it. The problem is, between my apartment Ned my garage, there are 4 other apartments, with who knows how many walls between, totaling about 200-300 ft. I constantly forget to shut my garage door when I leave, and I have no one to check if I left it open for me as I live alone. So I’ll leave for work in the mornings, get about 15 minutes away, then think “I can’t remember if I closed the garage”, so then I have to drive back and check if it’s closed. Majority of the time, I did close it, but had no way of knowing without driving all the way back.

I’ve tried beaming a wifi signal out there with expensive antennas to no avail. I’ve tried a cellular solution using a hotspot device, but there’s basically zero signal inside the garage. No solution I could think of would solve my problem.

Then I read about a technology called LoRa, which utilizes a lower frequency radio signal than WiFi or Cellular, meaning it is able to penetrate walls much better, and enables a longer range overall. I looked into how I could build a LoRa link between my apartment and my garage, but everything required super custom setup, buying radio modules and programming them to work between. I finally found YoLink, and was hooked.

I bought this door sensor and hub pack, as well as the relay module. I got it yesterday night, and went to hook it up today. The install process was super simple; connected power and Ethernet, then configured my wifi network and moved it to the room closest to my garage. Then I added the door sensor and headed to the garage. I mounted the magnet to the door, and then tested the battery portion with some tape. It worked first try, and instantly enabled me to see the status of my garage door. I’m working on installing the relay next so I can remotely close the door if needed.

Now when I think I didn’t close my door, I can open the app and see if I did without driving all the way back. Such a simple problem, but I wish I found this simple solution earlier!

P.S.: The developers seem to be super engaged with “power users” interested in adding capability and supporting us. I reached out today on a Saturday via email and had a response within 30 minutes! I was expecting to wait until Monday at least, so needless to say they’ve made an awesome first impression. Looking forward to seeing what else I can do next using YoLink!

5.0 out of 5 stars It works well for metal mailbox opening detection
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2022
    Verified Purchase
I got this for my mailbox opening detection. I tried some indoor contact sensors but they do not have long range and I tried ring mailbox sensor (RMS). But I found out the RMS does not work well when I placed it in the back of the inside of the mailbox. I found out RMS is human heat based instead of detection of any object movement. With Yolink, I placed it inside a metal mail box and it works every time. Initially, the only problem I have is the sensor falling. I placed the sensor on a stationary side of the mailbox and the magnet on the back of the opening door. Maybe the door with the magnet hit the sensor. So I put some strong two sided tape on the sensor and placed it a bit further from the magnet (but need to be within 0.4 inch gap as specified). And I put one side of velcro tape to the small contact between two metal plates of the mail box so when the door is closed, the door will not slam each other and create vibration to dislodge the contact sensor. If it falls again, I will replace the two sided tape with velcro tape so I can remove it easily for battery change in the future. So far it works really well without falling. It works with 鶹 Alexia well and it will pronounce "You've got mail". That is pretty cool. The software is pretty encompassing. It looked like yolink spent a lot of time on the software. After you get used to it, it is pretty powerful. I put another one as refrigerator door opening sensor. Each sensor can have its own alerting scheme if you wish. Both notify on my iPhone (you can select if the notification can appear in locked screen (critical alert) or just a banner on top of the phone or on apple watch. And it also alerts on Alexia, if you wish, "The refrigerator door is opened". And if it stay opened for a specified time, you can have the notification again repeatedly on the iPhone. It is pretty useful since the range from the sensor to the hub is very long so it works consistently. I like this purchase - easy installation, works well within metal, long range for consistency, comprehensive software, work with Alexia. I wish it works with Apple HomeKit but it seems like not for now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great system but be aware there are 2 different hubs
Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2024
    Verified Purchase
Great system but be aware there are 2 different hubs: the Hub & the Speaker Hub. I got the starter kit with the regular Hub and 4 Door Sensors to set up a door monitoring system that would announce each door when it opens or closes. The system setup through the app was very easy. All you had to do was to scan the QR code on each device to add it. After I unsuccessfully tried to setup the announcement feature, I realized that this Hub doesn't support the announcements because it was not the Speaker Hub. Apparently you can buy a Siren Speaker and add it to the system, but I did not do so. Since I have an Echo Show 8 in the room, I linked this system to Alexa and used the Alexa app to do the door announcement. It worked perfectly. When my front door sensor triggered open, Alexa would say "Front door is open" and when it closes, Alexa says "Front door closed." This system combined with Alexa works perfectly for what I needed. The app will send a push notification too, so I am notified on my phone and audibly by Alexa. You can piece together a full security alarm system and more with this Yolink system. This is a great product and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to set up their own security system or door monitoring system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Alternative for SmarthThings
Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2020

I've spent a large amount of time researching on the what would be the best Hub for my smart home. For me, a hub needed three qualifications: It has to work with Alexa -- has to be compatible with various devices like sensors, smart plugs, smart lights ect. -- and has to be user-friendly; easy to setup. The Samsung SmartThings Hub was on top of my list. Although, I wasn't ready to jump in and get a hub right away, since I've been using the TP-Link Kasa smart home products - which require no hub. Also, I've been using the 鶹 Echo Flex with motion sensor, which requires no hub either.

Unfortunately, I had just found out last week, Samsung has discontinued the SmartThings hub and SmartThings products. They're doing a re-structuring of their smart home product line and are staying quiet of what the future of products would be.

This left me with a problem. If I want to give my smart home more functionality, I needed more sensors (that worked with Alexa). For the most part, most sensors I've found require a hub and needed compatibility with some standard like z-wave or zigbee -- or required some know-how like linux or needed IOS. So, what was my issue? When it came to user-friendliness and easy to setup, SmartThings was my best choice for that.

I started searching for door sensors that required no hub, and somehow found this hidden gem. Like SmartThings, Yolink consist of similar products and has it's own hub (YoLink Hub). So, I took the chance.

Pros: Setup of the devices was fairly easy. Response from the sensors is quick. As soon as I open the door, I hear Alexa instantly tell me the door is open (need to create a routine of course). I have a kid :) Has been working really well with TP-Link KASA products - as well as the 鶹 Smart Plug. So far, the Yolink door sensors and Yolink hub have responded great to any routine I created in alexa. Had no issues - really

Cons: The device has to be registered in the Yolink app. To do this, you have to scan a QR code labeled on the device. For some reason, it can take a while to scan, or my phone has trouble scanning it. Eventually it does recognize the device. I did not take a star away from the review because it could be my phone or how I'm holding the phone.

I preferred connecting my Yolink Hub via ethernet to my router, which is what I recommend. The connection is more stable, safer and quicker. Although, you can connect to your home router using wireless if you want.

Conclusion: Great Alternative to SmartThings. I'll be expanding with more Yolink devices in the future.
