- Reviewed in Canada on May 6, 2020Verified PurchaseI first ordered one of the cheaper $20 cable adapters and it did not work with my old Korg O1/W and my 2019 Macbook Pro so I returned it for a refund after confirming that the MIDI jacks on my Korg still work when connected to other MIDI peripherals with just standard MIDI cables. So I decided to try out this more expensive Roland cable. It comes with a CD-ROM but the manual looks a bit dated so instead of using the drivers from the disc, I went directly to the Roland website to download the latest drivers for my OS X. Installed the drivers successfully and plugged the Roland cable adapter into my Macbook from my Korg O1/W and opened up a software instrument from Garageband. Right away, I got sounds from Garageband by playing keys on my Korg so this product works well with my gear. Now I could use my O1/W as an external MIDI controller keyboard as well as an external synthesizer.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 6, 2020Verified PurchaseThis cable works on my Android and Mac computer. I left the switch in the "COMP" (computer) position and it works on both devices. I did not have to switch it to "TAB" (tablet) to work with my Android phone. To get it to work on my Mac, I downloaded driver from the Roland's website, and then followed the instructions in the manual to get it to work. It was not that hard, but the included instructions are older, so the new driver software differs slightly from the pictures and steps in the manual. When you get to the step to "test" the setup, be sure to lower the volume on the piano or device that you are connecting, as I almost jumped out of my seat when it played a really loud test sound. The cable works great, and I use it with popular Piano learning apps on my phone and computer.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 26, 2023Verified PurchaseI have an older Casio CTK-573 keyboard with the older MIDI cable connections. My old Roland UM-One kicked the bucket and I needed a replacement. This one fit the bill and I'm able to use it connected to my laptop. It was easy to install in Windows 10 and had no problems on setting it up. Very good! The price was very reasonable.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 20, 2021Verified PurchaseI needed this to update the firmware on my Strymon guitar pedals (Timeline and Mobius) to be able to use the Multiswitch Plus. A quick trip to Roland's website to download a Windows 7 driver for the cable and I was good to go. Tip: Strymon's website instructs you to connect the MIDI IN cable to the OUT port on the pedal and the MIDI OUT to the IN, but this didn't work for me at all. Once I stopped trying to follow their instructions and connected the IN to the IN (seems logical, right?) everything worked great and I was able to update the firmware easily. So if you get no response when testing the MIDI, just try swapping the IN and OUT.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 6, 2022Verified PurchaseThis is my third MIDI interface. The first one was a MIDIPLUS, it worked so so for a while and I think that after a Windows 10 update, it stopped working completely. I suspected the device so I bough another interface MIDI cable. It did not work at all. After some research on the net about my problem. I went to the conclusion that Windows generic pilot for USB MIDI devices was probably the cause. So I looked for an interface that uses its own developed pilot and Roland UM-ONE was the one. Alleluia! Roland is it. UM-ONE is the ONE. For me at least. It worked first shot. They even write on their 5 pin MIDI cables where to connect them, for those people who are still struggling with MIDI INs and OUTs.
Yes, something that goes OUT of something, must undoubtedly go IN something ;)
- Reviewed in Canada on December 2, 2021Verified PurchaseUnit works great, make sure you understand how MIDI works (connections and signals). Tech should work fine as long as you understand that.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 11, 2017Verified PurchaseWhen I initially received the product, I immediately connected it to my Win10 PC and the driver automatically downloaded and installed successfully. Hooray. The following day, Microsoft forced their Windows 10 Creators Update on me. Thanks Microsoft. Now Windows no longer recognizes the UM-ONE driver and says it can't find one. Uninstall/reinstall doesn't work. Roland doesn't offer Win10 drivers on their support site - the downloadable file contains only instructions to let Windows 10 do all the work. Roland also refuses to answer my email inquiries because I don't reside in the U.S. Boo Roland and Microsoft both.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bit costly but works perfectly
Verified PurchaseI was looking for a cheap midi din input to usb converter. But I only found this to be reliable as per the reviews I read. So I decided to buy this one although it is a bit costly. But considering it's original Roland product I decided to buy this one. It's working perfectly. You need to download the drivers for it to work from the official Roland website for both Mac and Windows. Good thing is that it has latest drivers compatible with Apple Silicon if you are using Mac.
Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interfaccia MIDI performante e senza difetti
