J'ai grandi avec l'univers de Tolkien, et je n'avais pas les dvd, ce qui veut dire que j'étais limité aux versions disponibles sur mes site de streaming... les versions courtes. Terminé cet enfer, je peux maintenant passer une journée entière à me régaler des versions longues (ce devrait être la seule version hehe)

    These movies are exceptional. I love owning them in hard copies so I can watch whenever I want: I just slot them into my PS5. The Ultra4K looks great on my 4K TV, and I have no complaints about picture quality or sound. The box feels high quality, and the disk are all colour-coded by movie so you know what goes where.

    When BluRay came out with the LOTR extended version boxset in 2011 I was ecstatic because it was out in HD, finally! I wanted to see what my new 4K BluRay player could do with that version of LOTR and well, it was good, but nothing like the true 4K version on disc. The sound and picture were beyond perfect.

    I updated to 4K in 2023 and have two different tv sets, one that does Dolby Vision and the other HDR10+ Cinema. Both are amazing in 4K but the cinematic viewing was unbelievable! It felt like I was in the movie and with Dolby ATMOS, it was just awesome! So much so I updated my Hobbit movies to 4K as well. Unbelievable! Watch all 6 movies in a row for the best knowledge experience, especially the extended versions of both movies! I could never watch the theater versions ever again because too much is missing.

    I debated between the blu ray remaster and the 4K. Since the price point was still better for the blu ray, that’s what I went for. The LOTR trilogy looks fantastic and much better than some comparisons I’ve seen online. Probably because those comparisons only compare the old blu ray transfers and not this 2021 version. Anyway, it looks so good on my lg 4K player it may as well be 4K and I’m glad I’ve saved the money because I also wanted all the bonus content that was on the extended DVD’s so I got my money’s worth.

    Beware, if like me, you’re trying to buy a version with Japanese subtitles, but don’t fear, they are there. This 4K version continues the bizarre Warner Bros DVD style of hiding it’s Japanese subtitles, and only making them visible if you go into your player’s menu and change the blu-ray menu settings to Japanese. This is very easy once you know about it, but if nobody tells you, you would have no idea. Keep in mind also that the Japanese audio and subtitles are only available on the extended editions (not on the theatrical versions for some reason).
    Hope this helps someone in future. The 4K transfer itself is absolutely amazing, crystal clear video and stunning audio. Well worth the money for a true fan.

    Note well : All 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray drives on a PC require Intel SGX (Software Guard Extensions - special new Intel CISC CPU instructions.) This means they will generally NOT play on an AMD CPU system.
    Cyberlink PowerDVD does not mention this, nor does Scorptec, nor do these LOTR disks.
    (I was finally able to play my copy on my AMD PC by using a certain 3rd party video program, and a standard Blu-ray drive and some hours of fiddling around.)
