Even living in a home that had a yard completely fenced in all around, our big issue was that every time one of our kids would leave the yard gate or the front door open, our 3 year old golden retriever would immediately go off running into the neighborhood. Luckily the local animal shelter was always called before anything tragic ever happened.
I mean, I’ve seen her dash across the street a few time without even looking if there were cars coming. This was getting real stressful on all of us, especially on me. Having her neutered didn’t seem to help in keeping her home more. In the meantime our family moved to a home that was completely unfenced and with winter approaching fast this was definitely not good news in having our issue solved. One day I stared looking around the Internet for possible solutions and I stumbled on this system. It seemed that it worked well for a large number of people plus it was approx. 2000$ cheaper than having a fence built by a local company here, so I decided to try it out. Let me say that I am soooo glad I did. I only wish I would have purchased this 2 years ago! Within a week our dog was no longer wandering off and we could finally start relaxing. One important note is to never forget to remove the PetSafe collar whenever you’re taking your dog out for a walk or car ride so that your dog can learn when it is safe to follow you around and when it’s not! We’ve decided to use a difference color collar for when we’re taking her for a walk. Since the PetSafe collar is red, we use a black one for all other activities. It really didn’t take very long before she learned the difference between the two collars!
I would definitely recommend trying the PetSafe Wireless Fence Containment System if your dog loves to wander off all the time like ours did.
