We have two large, rough dogs and this has held up surprisingly well to their abuse. My hefty german shepherd is able to pull the plastic cover off the door when it's sealed up (I have no idea how), so that's not ideal, but she gets crated at night now. We installed it into a wall and they go in and out multiple times a day. In the -40 winter, it lets very little cold in. We've been using it for about 6 months and have had no issues so far.

We needed an extra-large dog door for our Great Pyrenees, Maremma and foxhound to give them 24 hr/day access to a fenced-in backyard. Chose the PetSafe door because we'd previously used a smaller model for other dogs that worked very well for many years. Also, PetSafe replacement flaps and other spare parts are widely available.

Not disappointed. It's a great door.

It came with professional installation instructions that were easy to follow. The three-flap design includes a middle flap for insulation that will be good for winter months. The flaps are sturdy but easy for the dogs to open.

So why only four stars? Because of the cheap installation hardware. The supplied 1/8"-diameter nylon through-bolts holding the door frames in place are too flimsy. Ditto for the tiny soft-metal screws used to adjust the flap height or to replace a flap. Several screws had marred Phillips heads, just from factory assembly.

I have 11 dogs and 7 of them are extra large over 130lbs. The plastic holding strips do not hold up to the constant entering and exiting of the dogs. Woke up this morning to the last of the flaps having been carried out to the back room. Flaps are still good but now I have to find a way to rig something into the dog door in order to hold the flaps in place.

The door was pretty easy to install, as we were just replacing another PetSafe door of the same size. We did need to run to the store to get longer screws, but that may have been specific to our main door. Once installed, you can notice immediate improvement in the magnetic seal. The area by our back door was significantly less chilly. It also holds up to some fair wind, and it gets very windy where we live. Today we’re getting wind gusts of 20mph, and the door does open during those bigger gusts, and then immediately closes again with the magnet. We made the decision to close the dog door, but that’s the first time we’ve had to do that for weather since we installed it a week ago. We were doing that daily with our previous dog door. The potential savings on utility bills is worth the price of this door!

E' un articolo che costa, e parecchio, ma per me vale fino all'ultimo centesimo: non l'ho inserita in una porta di casa o in un'anta del balcone bensì in un telo in PVC che mi racchiude un porticato.
Ovviamente, essendo lo spessore del telo di gran lunga inferiore al minimo previsto nel manualetto di montaggio, ho dovuto solo realizzarmi una cornice esterna ed un interna, quasi come un porta-foto ed una volta raggiunto lo spessore minimo richiesto ho installato in pochi minuti la gattaiola.
Questa mia specifica installazione è indicata per l'estate, per quando il clima non è ancora rigidissimo, nonostante la rassicurante tipologia della triplice tendina isolante di cui è dotata la PetSafe.
Per l'inverno credo che la smonterò in pochi minuti e l'applicherò ad un balcone o alla porta di casa per consentire ai miei due Golden Retriever di uscire quando vogliono!
