This set contains one Pentel Multi 8 lead holder, eight packs of lead refills (Diazo non copy, PPC non copy, red, blue, brown, orange, yellow, and green), and a sharpener. Diazo non copy lead does not show up when copied by a Diazo (wet type) copy machine, and the PPC non copy lead does not show up when copied by a PPC (dry type) copy machine. Most modern copy machines are PPC. However, blueprints are still often copied by Diazo copy machines.The Pentel Multi 8 lead holder contains eight different colors of 2 mm lead in one convenient holder! Perfect for a designer or artist, this lead holder allows you to move from one color to another with ease --- simply rotate the plastic clip to the desired color, then press the top button to extend the lead. The lightweight plastic holder has a ridged grip area and a balanced feel in the hand.To refill the holder, turn the top knob until the silver line aligns with the black plastic arrow on the top of the clip. This will then completely release the lead when the top button is pressed down. Keep the button pressed down, and the clutch claw at the tip opened, so that you can insert your refill lead through the holder tip. Once your lead is refilled, turn the knob again so that the line is not matched up with the black arrow, so that the holder will catch the lead at the metal end.

    This is a great lead holder. I've had another one for many years and purchased this one because I wanted to have one in a couple of different places. i.e. purse or pencil cases. Yah ok, so you have adjust the length manually - it's not like a click pencil, but it's no big deal - I find I have to adjust click pencils manually too because it doesn't always click out at the length I like. This one seems to be made the same as my older one except it's a different colour so I expect it to last just as long.

    Great solution for drawing with multiple lead grades, though as the lead length is shorter than standard you'll have to break a standard 2mm lead to make it fit. The width of this makes it much nicer to hold for me than the usual pencil-width lead holders.

    I prefer this version of this lead holder to the domestic one as the domestic one doesn't have the slots labelled, which makes it harder to keep track of which lead is which when they all look the same. The colored leads that come with this are also quite nice and I've been using the non-photo blue one for construction lines.

    Look, it's my favourite pencil, however, it breaks very easily... Sadly I dropped it once and something happened and the entire pencil wouldn't line up properly with the correct leads to the name, I used the instructions but to no avail.

    It's not too heavy to hold for long periods.
    The coloured leads are smooth and creamy, which makes drawing with them a real pleasure.
    The colours are vibrant and all work well together. Yes, the yellow is quite light on white paper, but that's to be expected.

    A little care is needed when switching colours round, ensuring that the lead has properly returned into the pen before rotating the clip to select your next colour. There's enough resistance that you shouldn't break the lead though.

    Overall this is a really great product. I bought the set with a complete set of 2 spares each of all 8 colours. I think this would be enough to last for quite a while.
    You can use other 2mm leads, but you will need to cut them down to the right length first.

    Great for highlighting text in books, bullet journalling and under drawings/sketches. I love the Non Copy Blue for sketching.

    How can you have a Futuristic Throwback??? Take the Ultimate 80's school supply, The auto click 4 color pen. Able to switch from Red to Green to Black to Blue with the click of a button and Double to Colors and make it a mechanical pencil.
