This is the third long slot toaster we have purchased in the past few years. The first was extremely expensive and died about two months past the warranty. Next was very inexpensive and lasted less than a year. Chose this Oster as it is a midrange price and has been a decent brand on other appliances I have bought.
Very nice looking toaster and toasts quickly. Once side is darker than the other on the toast but not a big deal. Hopefully this one lasts.

my first piece of toast turned out ok, then i used the bagel setting, and it did not detect when done, and burned my toast. the frozen bread setting also did not detect when done and burned my toast.
my next piece of toast was extremely unevenly toasted. you would think a toaster, after more than 70 years after invention would have improved, not got worse. how can you go bad with a toaster???
to add another note, i returned it after my first use, that should tell you something

Exactly what I was looking for. I love buying sourdough bread and the slices are always longer than the average toaster so I wanted one that was longer to accommodate those since I prefer not cutting them in half to toast. It also makes toasting regular sized slices much faster since you can do 4 at a time.
As far as toasting goes, it does an excellent job at toasting each slice evenly. No complaints.

The first electric toaster was invented in 1893, over 130 years ago. I'm absolutely flummoxed that after that many years the quality of toasters has become worse? It's a basic function! To use electric heating elements to put a browned crust on sliced bread!

I wanted a toaster that could toast longer sliced round loaf "artisan?" bread (like rye, sour dough, etc.) instead of always having to cut the slice in two, to fit into "normal" industrial made bread shaped toasters. I did read many reviews before purchasing this long slot toaster. There were people complaining and even showing pictures of slices of bread toasted unevenly, and with the crust burned while the inner surface is barely browned. I thought that it was just a vocal minority who were unlucky with a defective unit.

I would say that I was surprised (but I guess I wasn't?) when I put in a couple nice long slices of rye bread and the very first toasting resulted in burned crusts, more toasted (darker) at one end than the other, with barely any browning in the middle. This is exactly like the other complaints and pictures!

Is there not a single good quality long slot toasting machine that will brown and toast bread evenly? I'm seeing these same complaints from many brands listed here on this website, as well as in prices ranging from low to insanely expensive.

I'm very disappointed in this product's toasting quality and have returned it.
