This unit does not work on a CR-10 Smart Pro as the docs would lead you to believe. I spent many hours updating and trying to get it to print. It white screens (lots of reports of this on youtube). It disconnects mid-print almost every time. Freezes up and you have to power off and restart. A terrible experience.

Plug in a Camera? Good luck. I bought the Nebula camera specifically because it was supposed to be compatible. Does not work.

Maybe Ender printers will work, but for my situation way too many problems. Returned it.

Took it out of the box, hooked up an ender s3 plus with a full metal hot end upgrade in it and had it printing in less than 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Another 20 minutes to hook up a cr10s4 and queued up a test print. I haven’t hooked up the accelerometer yet. I am going to tinker with my slicer settings, make some test prints for reference, and then look into the accelerometer and the advanced functions that come with it.

I’ve used octoprint. I really like it. I really like sbc’s and the options they give you for expansion and levels of control. I know the satisfaction of customizing and flashing firmware to get the most features out of your printer as possible.

I bought this because I just don’t have the time to properly devote to setting up and maintaining a homebrew setup. I wanted simplicity in setup and new printer adoption. I wanted simple wireless remote access to multiple printers and klipper functionality. I wanted easy updates and maintenance. I wanted functionality I could not get from stock options.

So far it’s done all that and more. It gives me more time to spend actually making things on the printers. I did not receive any discounts or compensation for this product, and it has been worth every penny.

I am really surprised the leap a head in speed I'm getting from upgrading my Creality CR 10 Smart Pro to Klipper ran on a Sonic Pad. I'm able to print at speed exceeding 200ms with the same print quality as my stock printer running Marlin. The setup could not have been easier and there was even mounting stl files for the motion sensor on the USB stick sent. Wish the cam that came with the CR 10 Smart Pro worked with the Sonic Pad but ordered another Nebula camera for this printer. Time is money and I should have a long time ago bought a Sonic Pad to run my older Creality printers

The first sonic pad I received was broken. The power button wouldn’t engage and when released, the tablet would turn off right away. Fortunately a replacement was immediately shipped and worked fine. The Ender 3 S1 was easy to set up and prints amazing and fast. My only recommendation would be making sure your printer exactly matches one of the factory profiles. I tried setting up a CR-10 V2 w/BL touch and had no luck since the profile does not support BL touch. I thought it would be like Marlin and I could comment/uncommon desired features. I followed videos, instructions in the book, online suggestions, nothing worked. I even went as far as to copy and paste numerous config files from people who said it would work with the BL touch. After a day and a half of experimenting, I put Marlin back on the CR-10. I may pull the BL touch off and see if I can get it working without the BL touch. I’m sure the speed of printing will more than make up for any time wasted manually leveling. Generally I like it but still learning.

The Smart Pad is hardly plug and play (at least with my Ender 7) and suffers from tons of errors and random disconnects leading to failed prints, none of which happen with Merlin.

Most features simply don't work. Moonraker connect will say a file is uploaded, but it isn't, so you still have to use an SD card to do prints. Fire up a browser to check status and you are often met with cryptic errors like g code path errors, klipper isn't running (when it is) errors and these are only fixed by a factory reset of the pad, and then reappear after a few days.

Out of the box, I also got failure after retract errors on X where after homing, you can't start a new print without physically pulling the head off the stop switch, then letting it home again. Creality didn't add homing retract to the factory printer config. The Klipper default isn't enough to get the head off the stop switch so Klipper hangs on an error. WTF? Ended up having to manually modify the printer conf to add the homing retract line, so when homing it would back off enough to un-trigger the homing stop switch. This should not be necessary on a Creatily klipper pad for a listed Creality printer, especially for a product intended to bring Klipper to more novice users unfamiliar with Klipper's config files. Not plug and play by any definition.

One of the few features I actually wanted Klipper for was using the webcam to monitor prints. However, hook up a webcam and the MCU errors happen. A printer that was working flawlessly with Merlin now fails 16 hours into a print with "MCU shutdown stepper too far in the past" errors. After endless troubleshooting, it is the pad throwing up on itself due to the webcam. Unplug the webcam, an obviously important feature, and prints will complete. Other users report the same "fix". Creality on the other hand blamed the USB cable, and then tried to blame my slicer, which is Creality's own version of Cura (Creality Slicer), but no, it is just garbage buggy firmware in the Creality Smart Pad.

The bottom line is people buying this $170 pad hoping for an easy Klipper setup are beta testers and should be prepared for endless problems.
