When we visit our daughter, we will often stay for a week or more. Our accommodation is a basement bedroom which has two disadvantages, it’s crowded (especially when you add a couple of large suitcases) and it lacks electrical receptacles in convenient locations. We decided that this pair of rechargeable lamps might really make our life a bit easier when we are visiting.
Standing only eleven inches tall with a base that measures just over four inches in diameter and a shade that measures five, there’s no question that this lamp has a small footprint. The lack of a cord (except, of course, for recharging) makes it seem even smaller. The enclosed plastic shade is very sturdy, protecting the LED bulb from the elements and making it a viable alternative for a porch or patio (indeed, the lamp itself has an IP54 waterproof rating). The base has a rubbery, non-slip pad and is surprisingly heavy; I have no concerns about it blowing over in anything less than hurricane force winds.
In addition to its solid construction, the lamp has a full selection of handy features which are controlled by a single multi-function switch on its base. Pressing the switch once will turn the lamp on in its “Cool White” (6000K) mode; additional presses take you to the “Warm White” (3000K) mode and the “Natural White” (4000K) mode. If the lamp has been on for more than a few seconds, pressing the button again will turn it off. The light offers stepless brightness control; holding the same switch down will increase or decrease the brightness (simply release the button when the desired brightness is reached). The unit does have a memory function which will restore the lamp’s brightness to its previously set level.
As would be expected, the lamp comes with the requisite charging cable. Recharging can take up to five hours with a charge providing up to 53 hours of light depending upon the settings you are using. The set of four small LED lights located by the main switch indicate the light’s current charge as well as the charging status. A short instruction manual is included in the package.
While I understand that many might consider these lights too small to be of much use, for us, in our cramped space, they are wonderful. Solidly built, beautifully finished, and able to cast a significant amount of light, these lamps are both convenient and versatile. Able to handle life on the patio or on the deck, they’re smart enough looking to be used in any room in the house. My wife and I both love them. Highly recommended.
