I took this plug to replace the UK plug on one of my battery chargers. I know this is not a typical scenario for such use cases as GFCI is a safety standard for moist environments to avoid electrical shock. However, the above mentioned UK plug had a fuse so I thought it better to have GFCI protection with ground fault (even though it’s not plugged on receptacle/GFCI breaker) than none like with a regular/plain plug.

Anyhow, the plug is a bit bulky but this is very typical for GFCI plugs as you probably know and have a similar one on your hairdryer.

What I really liked with this one is simplicity. Just remove a few screws, usher wires following the rule of neutral and hot and you’re good to go.

Not much more to say about it. I didn’t see anything concerning and the quality of material seems to be fine. By looking into the piece, I think the price is fairly positioned compared with online alternatives.

I got this to replace the dead GFI on my pressure washer which was temporarily replaced with a standard plug. Install is easy, with the three wires just screwing onto the terminals in the plug before it's closed up. The test function trips the protection as expected and the washer runs normally. I have a specific device I wanted to add GFCI protection to, and didn't want to change out the receptacle feeding it. This cord cap is a great solution. The package includes the cord cap body and back, cord strap, strain relief, some small screws to hold it all together, and an installation pamphlet. The main body/back of the cord cap are hard black plastic. The test/reset buttons on the front are red which provides good contrast. The termination screws accept a #2 phillips tip screwdriver without stripping, and the pressure plates open up enough to accept at least #12AWG conductors. The screws are color coded to the typical standard of brass=line/hot, green=ground, and silver=neutral. I like the small barrier between termination points. They help to keep stray conductor strands from crossing to adjacent terminals. Installation is straight forward. If you aren't sure of what to do, call an electrician. The cord strap is solid, and the strain relief is supple. The assembly feels durable, and it's rated at 15A/1800W.

I wanted to test the GFCI trip function so I wired this cord cap to a box/receptacle and used a reliable GFCI tester. It tripped and reset as expected. The indicator LEDs on the cord cap displayed the state of the trip circuit. The test/reset buttons on the cord cap are perfectly funtional, but I wanted to verify it would open the circuit with a known trip current. I'm confident this cord cap will perform to spec when it's needed.

I finished the install on my intended device, and now have an added layer of protection if an unexpected event occurs.
