- Reviewed in Canada on December 18, 2013Verified PurchaseHello 鶹 Researchers!
I was going back and forth between the Presto Flipside Belgian Waffle Maker and other flip waffle makers made by Waring Pro WWM450PCC and Cuisinart WAF-300C. I found that the Cuisinart and Waring have identical plastic parts and I wouldn't doubt if they come from the same factory. The Waring Pro and Cuisinart seemed too fiddly. I didn't like the handle on either of them but the Cuisinart was definitely the loser in the handle department...anyway I chose the Presto Flipside because it is the most compact, flip waffle maker available to me in Canada. It stores very easily in my cabinet when not in use.
The Presto Flip is easy to use and clean. The provided instructions are short and clear and contain several recipes for waffles. It takes about 3min to warm up once plugged in and there is no on/off switch so don't forget to unplug it. The waffle recipe I use (not in the manual) takes about 4min to bake in the Presto Flipside. The waffles come out crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Simply fill either side of the waffle maker with batter, close the waffle maker and then flip it over...EASY. The design of this mechanism is pure genius...no moving parts and the pivot rod appears to be made of metal. Unlike the other two that were plastic and not smooth in use. In use, the Presto Flipside is very stable, and there's no worry about it tipping over. I would definitely recommend this product to family and friends.
Here's my waffle recipe:
1-1/4 cup of cake flour
3/4tsp baking power
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup of butter, melted plus more for brushing the waffle maker
1 cup of milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 egg, separated
melt the butter in the microwave and allow to cool slightly
separate the egg and whip the whites in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form
mix the dry ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl
add the milk, vanilla and egg yolk to the dry ingredients and mix until combined (don't overmix)
add the melted butter to the batter all at once and stir it in immediately
gently fold in the whipped egg whites until combined but be careful not to deflate the whites too much while folding
Heat the waffle maker and do a LIGHT brushing with melted butter before adding the batter and bake for 4min.
This makes 4 delicious waffles in the Presto Flipside
Edit Feb25, 2019: This waffle maker is still going strong! I'm thinking of buying it another to keep as a spare or backup.
Edit Dec24, 2022: This waffle maker is still going strong!
Edit Oct1, 2023: The Presto is still going :). The fact that this waffle iron is still on the market in the same format, is a testament to its quality design!
- Reviewed in Canada on March 2, 2024Verified PurchaseWas extremely surprised and happy with how well this works. No sticking. Perfect crispy fluffy waffles. Not thin eggo type waffles, thick and deep waffles like you would get in a restaurant.
Note the timer on this thing sucks, and thankfully has absolutely no bearing on cooking and no interaction with the heating or temperature of the waffle maker. I don’t even use it and they should probably remove it from the machine. If the timer was required for this to work, I probably would have returned the machine. So glad it doesn’t even need the timer turned on to work and OK with…the waffles are that good, and I prefer one less fiddly thing to go wrong with the machine or cooking.
This machine has 1 temperature setting, pre-dialled in and perfect.
As a simple waffle iron - plug in, it heats up, you use it - I can’t imagine anything working better or more simply than this.
My usage:
Follow box mix recipe for waffles, I have used several they all work. Don’t forget to add the correct amount of oil to the batter, as per box instructions.. Don’t grease the machine at all. Zero grease on the machine ever.
Preheat until the light goes out.
Pour batter, if it’s too thick or unevenly poured, tilt the machine slightly until it’s evenly distributed. The large cool handles are perfect for this.
Close and flip. Flip again after 2 minutes. 4 minutes 30 seconds total cook time seems perfect. Don’t have to wash the machine or even wipe it down after, nothing sticks they just come right out.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 12, 2023Verified PurchaseI've never had something that was non stick actually be truly non stick until I tried this waffle maker. The cooking surface is ceramic. My recipe has melted butter in it but other than that, I add no oil to the cooking grids and my waffles don't stick. In fact, the instructions tell you not to grease the grids. I was skeptical until I tried it. Cleaning up the waffle maker used to be the worst part of making waffles but not now. You just wipe it with a cloth and you're done. You probably don't even need to do that, that's how clean it is. It makes beautiful thick (1.5") waffles. It preheats quickly (about 4 mins) and cooks quickly (4 mins). It really is a joy to use and you will find yourself making waffles more often because it isn't the chore it used to be. I highly recommend this waffle maker.
My only caution is that the warranty says it is only valid in the U.S. If 鶹 is selling an American product in Canada with no warranty, they should clearly state this on the product listing. I hope nothing goes wrong with it because it is on the expensive side compared to the US and the price seems to have gone up in recent years.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 14, 2025Verified PurchaseI got this waffle maker on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen, and I'm so glad I did. Cooks a perfect waffle every time, even one year on. Requires very minimal cleaning. The only downside is that the timer quit working about 6 months ago, but honestly I can just use my phone or oven timer so I'm not too concerned
- Reviewed in Canada on April 21, 2025Verified PurchaseIt’s awesome! It works great. The first couple times I used it smell like a cable was burning, but the smell went away after. I’d assume it was something like a resistor or something else.

I tried 6 times, unfortunately there was no beep.
The waffles obviously didn't look good (picture 1, 2)
I had the same type of waffle maker before. Easy to use, aesthetically made and worked for 3 years. Unfortunately, the timer stopped working, so I ordered a new one of the same type.
Unfortunately, as I described above... this time there was a big mistake. I am very dissatisfied.
Unfortunately, I returned it after the first use. The timer did not work properly, even though I set it for 5 minutes, it turned off after 3 minutes without giving any signal (I've attached a video).

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Thick Belgian Waffles
Verified PurchaseI don’t usually write reviews but felt that this waffle maker needed a review. Our old waffle machine had broken so we decided to get this new one. I wanted a Belgian waffle maker that created thick big waffles and this is it. This is not a thin, normal waffle maker. I didn’t see any pictures in the reviews of how thick of a waffle it makes so I included some pictures. In my review anyways it works great makes delicious thick waffles and if you’re considering buying it, you definitely should. I tried it with both waffle batter made from scratch and waffle batter made from the box and to be honest I preferred the waffle mix from in the box better. The waffles that come out of this waffle maker hold syrup just perfectly! If you have several of waffles to make, I suggest putting your waffles in a heated oven on a baking sheet because they will get soggy if left too long.

1.0 out of 5 stars crappy product and bad after sales service
Verified PurchaseBought this waffle maker after extensive research and reading a lot of reviews but I have to say..dont believe anything until you see it for yourself. Used this 1 time and it made decent waffles but wouldnt turn on the next time. I called up customer service of ibhejo and they said it is now out of return period. Got the product on 20/05 and got spoilt the second time i turned it on i.e 27/05. Now after spending all that money im left with a waffle maker that doesnt work and cannot be returned. Great service ibhejo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, simple, nonstick Belgian Waffler
Verified PurchaseThe Belgian wafller is basic and good. The waffle mix I always use for regular waffles didn't crisp up like I wanted. Had ingredients like oat flour and 15% protein that produced a softer product that I didn't have with my regular waffle iron. Will need to experiment with recipe included with this one. Otherwise it bodes well, so far, particularly non-stick ceramic. I don't use the timer, and it does not stop the cooking feature (which I prefer). I unplug and easily put it away because it is so compact when upright. So far, a great, simple appliance.
