About this item
- The Kuru Toga Series From Uni-Ball Mitsubishi Has A Core Rotation Mechanism That Can Automatically Rotate The Pencil Lead As You Write. The Lead Is Twisted Through A Spring-Loaded Clutch, It Works By Twisting Incrementally Every Time You Lift The Pencil Up (I.E. During Printing Words, Etc.). This Allows A Uniform Wearing Of The Pencil Lead So That It Always Remains As A Pointed Tip. So You Can Easily Avoid The Usual Problem Of Using Pencils
- At First The Pencil Has A Sharp Point, But After That When You Continue To Write The Point Is Worn Down, And Your Line Widths Are Smudgy And Thicker. Sometimes The Tip Of The Angled Point Can Scratch Or Catch On The Paper. The Lead Is Easy To Break Due To Some Positions Of The Tip And The Angles Of The Tip
- But Using Kuru Toga Pencil, You Will Not Have To Face The Above Problems. You Are Effectively Using Only 50% Of The Lead Area That You Were Previously Using With Your Old Mechanical Pencil. Thus, A 0.3/0.5 Mm Kuru Toga Will Write Incredibly Thin Lines And Have Less Breakage Than A Standard 0.3/0.5 Mm Mechanical Pencil

- Reviewed in Canada on August 21, 2023Verified PurchaseThe uni Mechanical Pencil Kurutoga Roulette Model in Silver, with its 0.5 mm lead, is a true gem that has earned its perfect five-star rating. As a pencil enthusiast who values precision and innovation, this mechanical pencil has exceeded all my expectations.
Right from the first use, the Kurutoga Roulette Model impressed me with its unique and ingenious mechanism. The self-sharpening feature is an absolute game-changer. The pencil's rotation as I write ensures a consistently sharp point, leading to clean and precise lines without the need for constant manual sharpening. This innovation is both efficient and satisfying.
The 0.5 mm lead size is perfect for those who seek precision and fine detailing. Whether I'm jotting down notes, sketching intricate designs, or working on technical drawings, the Kurutoga Roulette consistently delivers impeccable results. The lead advances smoothly, and the lines remain consistent in thickness throughout.
The silver design exudes a sense of elegance and sophistication. The pencil feels comfortable in the hand, with a weight that strikes a perfect balance between sturdy construction and effortless writing. The build quality is outstanding, reflecting uni's commitment to excellence.
The mechanical mechanism of the Kurutoga Roulette Model is reliable and durable. I've experienced minimal instances of lead breakage, thanks to its thoughtful engineering. The retractable tip also adds to its portability and convenience.
In conclusion, the uni Mechanical Pencil Kurutoga Roulette Model in Silver is a five-star writing instrument that has won my heart with its precision, innovation, and elegant design. If you're seeking a mechanical pencil that consistently delivers sharp lines and a satisfying writing experience, this pencil is a must-have addition to your collection. It's an investment that speaks to both quality and craftsmanship, and it's easily deserving of its perfect rating.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 7, 2019Verified PurchaseNice feel to it, love the metal grip. Just below the metal grip is a rubber o-ring for a little extra help in the grip department. The top half is plastic and the bottom half is metal, gives a nice weight to it with a lower center of gravity. The Kuru Toga feature, which rotates the lead about 20 degrees every time you lift your pencil off the page, works well. Tried it on different writing angles and seemed to work perfectly. Note that the feature does have about 1mm of spring to the lead, although I barely noticed it while using. The eraser is smaller than most other pencils I've used. Under the eraser is a smaller hole than usual to insert your leads but if you turn the pencil upside down without the eraser it keeps the leads inside still unless you shake it some. Packaging is good, protects the pencil well during shipping. Included 2 leads.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 2, 2016Verified PurchaseLove these pencils!
They're mostly made of metal, and have a nice weight and heft to them¡ªthey're not tiring to write with, but on the contrary feel a lot more stable than lightweight pencils. Of course, a mostly-metal construction means it'll be a lot more durable, and indeed, these have survived over a year of lectures and exams without much damage (mostly to the plastic bits).
The body is slightly thinner than I like for gripping, but it hasn't been too much of a problem for me. I imagine if you grip the pen too hard, your fingers will cramp up faster than with a thicker pen.
Now, the main point: the automatic lead rotation. I used to have a habit of rotating the pencil in my fingers until I found the pointed side, so it was awkward to use this pencil at first, since my fingers were fighting with the rotation mechanism. Once I trained myself not to do that, I realised that it was a _lot_ nicer to use without having to constantly rotate the pencil every word. They pencil strokes aren't super-thin hairlines like if you always look for the point, but they're definitely manageable¡ªnice and dark, not too thick.
Mostly using the Kuru Toga-branded leads for these; I haven't tried commodity leads.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 24, 2017Verified PurchaseThis was the first time I bought a nice mechanical pencil and I'm quite impressed.
The main downsides for me are as follows. The pencil is not as heavy as I was hoping. It is incredibly light and as a result feels somewhat flimsy. The eraser is incredibly small. Considering the product comes from over seas and takes a month to ship, getting replacements sounds like a hassle so I will probably never use the eraser. Furthermore, the circular cutout in the grip is rather annoying. At first it's cool to see the lead rotation in action, but once the whimsical effect wears off, I find the cutout will dig into my finger and is rather uncomfortable.
These are fairly small complaints. Overall I am very happy with the pencil. The rotating lead feature is really great and works consistently. I don't snap my lead as much as I used to and the lead retains a sharp point. The knurled grip is really nice as well (minus the circular cutout) especially because it will never come loose like a rubber grip. The build quality appears to be great other than the light weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best mechanical pencil ever
Verified PurchaseIt¡¯s such a great pencil and writes so smoothly that I sometimes forget that it¡¯s a pencil.
The rotating mechanism inside ensures that it always stays in shape and never feels scratchy on any paper I have tried it on. Bought it for my daily planner, but now I use it in Murdle as it¡¯s really easy to erase.
It feels really comfortable to hold as you¡¯re writing or drawing. Works perfectly well with my mini aluminium ruler.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Mechanical Pencil for Artists and Writers!
Verified PurchaseI recently discovered this mechanical pencil with a built-in rubber, and it's a game-changer! It's perfect for artists and writers alike.
The built-in rubber is incredibly convenient. It's right at the top of the pencil, making erasing quick and hassle-free. No need to search for a separate eraser anymore! It saves time and keeps the creative flow going.
Using this pencil is a joy. It has a comfortable grip, allowing for long hours of drawing or writing without discomfort. The weight and balance are just right, giving precise control over every stroke.
For drawing, this pencil is fantastic. The lead dispenses smoothly, creating clean and bold lines. It's great for detailed illustrations and shading. Plus, the lead is sturdy and doesn't break easily, even during intricate work.
Not only is it great for drawing, but it's also perfect for writing. The fine lead provides a smooth writing experience, making note-taking and handwriting a pleasure.
Durability is impressive too. It's built to last, with smooth lead advancement and no jamming issues. This pencil will be your reliable companion for a long time.
In summary, I highly recommend this mechanical pencil with a built-in rubber. It's a must-have for artists and writers. The convenience, precision, and durability make it an essential tool. Whether you're sketching, shading, or writing, this pencil will exceed your expectations.
