The unit is super tough; with a hard plastic case that clearly can take significant impacts - although I didn't mistreat it. Unit arrived fully charged in retail packaging. It comes with a zip up carry case which I would rate as ok but not fantastic. Inside the case you will find the main unit with instructions, a power cord and an OBD2 cord.
Setup was very easy and the initial round of updates completed without issue. Its a WIFI unit so those updates are easy to do and the unit checks for updates each time you turn it on.
This unit will operate on its own internal batter or from the vehicles OBD2 ports power. The benefit here of internal battery power is not only helpful for updates but you can take the unit to your workbench or desk and review reports
The unit is super tough with a hard plastic case and what feels like a rubberish grip on the sides, its really comfortable to hold.
I have used the tool to clear engine codes, read ABS codes and view live data such as fuel trims on GM and Chrysler products. The only hiccup I have had is it got stuck in a health report and wouldn't exit using the on screen commands I had to use the buttons on the right side of the unit. A minor inconvenience that may very well be fixed in a future software update.

Unit arrived fully charged in retail packaging. It comes with a zip up carry case which I would rate as ok but not fantastic. Inside the case you will find the main unit with instructions, a power cord and an OBD2 cord.
Setup was very easy and the initial round of updates completed without issue. Its a WIFI unit so those updates are easy to do and the unit checks for updates each time you turn it on.
This unit will operate on its own internal batter or from the vehicles OBD2 ports power. The benefit here of internal battery power is not only helpful for updates but you can take the unit to your workbench or desk and review reports
The unit is super tough with a hard plastic case and what feels like a rubberish grip on the sides, its really comfortable to hold.
I have used the tool to clear engine codes, read ABS codes and view live data such as fuel trims on GM and Chrysler products. The only hiccup I have had is it got stuck in a health report and wouldn't exit using the on screen commands I had to use the buttons on the right side of the unit. A minor inconvenience that may very well be fixed in a future software update.

This CRP123XV2 OBD2 scanner is a serious piece of equipment. This is no basic code reader. Instead, it is a feature rich and fully functional diagnostic tool that is perfect for any home mechanic or even small auto shop. The scanner comes with a USBa to DC charging cable, a serial to OBD2 cable, a comprehensive manual and a really nice zippered case to keep it all in.
The scanner itself looks and feels very professional. The hard plastic case feels very tough and looks like it will standup well in any garage environment. It is contoured with nice hand grips on the sides and finger reliefs in the back that allow for a good grip while using the tool. Up top are the connection ports for the charging cable and the OBD2 cable. Beside these is the soft rubber power button. On the face is a large 5” 720P colour touch screen that has rubber control and navigation buttons beside it. Overall a very tough, professional looking and functional appearance.
At initial power up I noted that the onboard 6100 mAh battery was already full, which was nice. I haven’t used it enough yet to wear it down much so I cannot comment on battery life or charging time but given its size I suspect you will get many hours of use and you can just charge it overnight. The real upside of this tool is that it has its own onboard power and does not rely on the OBD2 port for it. After initializing setup was easy which involved configuring wifi. It the prompted for software updates, of which there were many. Very impressive. Depending on your use you can pick and choose which updates you want, which would save you some time. I just did them all. Also, you apparently get lifetime free updates, which is awesome. The interesting part of this device is that the core system is Android based and as a result there are some useful features in the background, like a fully functioning web browser, web searching and other device configurations. This along with the built in DTC library is very handy when troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.
Functionally this device can handle more aspect in the vehicle that I know what to do with. A host of diagnostic and system reset functions for the main 4 ECU in the vehicle; Engine/EFI, SRS, Transmission and ABS. It is also able to function as a data logger for various sensors and outputs that enables very detailed investigation and troubleshooting. It can even check your battery condition. The interface is very intuitive and is easy to use. There are good explanations in the manual but I find it easy enough to just wade my way through most functions with a few exceptions.
Overall, this is an excellent OBD2 scanner and diagnostic tool that has high quality and high functionality. It is more than enough for the average home mechanic and is verging on professional level for shop use. This is one serious tool.
