A large but outstanding toaster oven with Air fryer functions

- Reviewed in Canada on March 16, 2025Verified PurchaseBought this to replace an older Breville model that served me well for many years but had reached the end of its life. Was choosing between this and the newer Breville models but decided to go with the Kitchen Aid for a couple of reasons. One was it was bigger in internal size compared to most of the Breville's unless you get into its top-of-the-line model, which is far, far more expensive. Plus, it starts adding Apps which I have no use for on a toaster oven.
I also like that the dual fans are located at the rear versus the side. I'm no engineer, and it's entirely anecdotal, but I feel the fans at the back do a bit better job evenly blowing the hot air around the food. This is especially true when air frying. The included air frying basket as others have noted is a bit of a pain in the butt to clean. Just needs some diligence while cleaning up after something like chicken wings.
Another feature that sold me on the Kitchen Aid was that it has lower temps for its proofing function, (75* versus the Breville's 80*) When making sourdough the lower temp is beneficial for slower proofing enhancing the sour flavour of the dough and giving you time with the dough. You can always dial in a higher temperature if you want, but you can't dial in a lower than its minimum setting.
I found it takes a bit longer to toast than my older Breville, but the size difference between the two is substantial so I'm not going to fault the oven for having more real estate to try to heat up. It's air fry function works very well and with the size of this oven, I can put a 10" cast iron skillet in with room to spare. I'm convinced I could shoehorn in a 12" pan with no issues. If you have low shelf to counter space, you might find it doesn't fit. So maybe measure before you buy.
I haven't used the included meat prob thermometer yet so I can't comment on how well it functions. The magnet for the case that it comes with is very strong, so you won't have to worry about knocking it off the side of the oven.
You can change the temp and the time remaining on the fly by pressing the corresponding buttons and then turning the dial to the appropriate temp/time you want.
All in all, super happy. My only complaint was I waited and didn't purchase it sooner. Unless I'm doing something in my largest cast iron dutch ovens, I don't even bother using my regular oven. I use this oven multiple times a day for toasting breakfast products, to reheating leftovers without making them soggy in the microwave and for making dinner. Highly recommended.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 1, 2025Verified PurchaseI don't usually write reviews but felt I needed to for this item. Love, love this oven. It fits a 9 x13 baking pan, a 12 cup muffin tin, and a full size pizza pan. I have made fries in the air fryer and do all my baking in it except for cookies as it would be a bit slower. I have made roasts with the temperature probe and unless I am cooking a full turkey I don't see me using my full size oven very much. If fact, I did a test, and including preheating, my 12 muffins were almost finished baking in this oven before my full size oven was even up to temperature saving of electricity. My only criticism is that once the oven is up to temperature, it immediately starts counting down from the time set when I may not have my item ready yet. My work around is to set the timer for 20% more than I think I will need and then I use the timer on my full size oven (at least I have a use for it) or my phone. A small inconvenience.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 23, 2025Verified PurchaseThis was an excellent buy! Especially for my RV, it’s amazing to have an actual oven! I find that you can cook literally anything that you can cook in a regular oven in here. It’s compact in size. And since it has an airfry mode, and toaster mode, it replaces multiple appliances!
- Reviewed in Canada on May 6, 2025Verified PurchaseConsistently 50f lower than my precision thermometer. Takes 20+ min to ACTUALLY preheat. Good otherwise.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 29, 2025Verified PurchaseWow wow wow! This is quiet and perfect size for a family of 2! No more waiting for the normal oven to get to the right temperature. This mini oven is perfect and slick looking. We had a Breville for years but the buttons steates to catch so we decided on this KitchenAid mini oven. Most impressed with the digital dial and ease of use and no noise at all! Plus it's a heck of allot cheaper. You won't be disappointed.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 5, 2025Verified PurchasePretty much use this for everything, no need for a microwave or airfryer. Makes perfect evenly cooked food every time
- Reviewed in Canada on February 20, 2025Verified PurchaseThis oven works well. It just is bigger than I thought and heavy. I had to get a dolly to help lift it into the house. Then wrestle with the packaging to get it out of the boxes. Once done then I could actually lift it. It is less than 30lb probably 25lb. luckily I managed to get it up onto the edge of the counter.
The oven does come with a manual that is useless. Trial and error is not helpful either. Nothing is straight forward. HAven't tried going on YouTube yet. I'm sure there might be something there that will be more helpful in the operation of this oven. The oven heats up fast and bakes well. Toasting thick pieces of bread takes 6 min. The oven itself is very hot. make sure that you have it well ventilated.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 24, 2025Verified PurchaseI am amazed with the quality and usefulness of this toaster oven. The large size, in width and height, is a very practical. It supports many useful features and bakes accurately just like regular oven. I love the lighting so that I can see my food as it bakes. As a bonus, it's very aesthetically pleasing. There are so many other useful features that it would take a long time to list them all. I'm very happy with my purchase, it's really worth it's price! Would very much recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love this oven!!
Verified PurchaseWe Love this oven!! I did a lot of research before deciding which oven to purchase and I'm very happy with my choice!!!! I've already cooked Potatoes Au Gratin and Meatloaf Meatballs in a 9x13 casserole dish in it and they turned out fantastic! It toast bread just fine, as good as our old toaster oven so no complaints there. I haven't used the Air Fryer yet but plan to try that this weekend. It is super easy to operate and looks very nice in our pantry! I like the fact that I can unplug it and take it with me when we have our Family Christmas weekend at an Airbnb. Cooking for so many people it really helps to have an extra oven! This is a great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great countertop oven!!!!!
Verified PurchaseI had the Kitchen Aid Convection/Oven/Toaster countertop unit and it worked great but I was thrilled to see the Air Fryer is now a function. I bought this so I didn't have to lug out the big air fryer every time. This unit is perfect. Sits on a counter and we use it for everything - toasting, cooking, broiling and air frying. We can do most anything in it and with the probe it even gets the temp correct.

4.0 out of 5 stars RERATED: Not a bad little oven ...
Verified PurchaseWhen I originally purchased this oven, I had read many reviews that the temperature is wildly inaccurate. So, I purchased a small thermometer to put inside so I could quickly and easily tell the temp. I was seeing temperature fluctuations as much as 50-60F under the desired cooking temperature. I was astounded at KitchenAid as I love their products. BUT ... BUT .... I kept noticing none of my dishes were turning out raw? Actually, most of them were turning out just fine and I knew that would not be possible if the temps were really under by 50F+. So, I borrowed a professional digital thermometer from a friend. Boy, was I surprised. The claims by some that the temperatures are off are indeed correct but not by 50-60F. In many cases it might be off as little as 10F degrees, if that. Further, my previous claims that the oven is NOT at full-temperature even when it beeps as says the preheating phase is complete. It's not, but it doesn't seem to matter that it's not. I live alone yet I love to cook so I am mostly making dishes for one or two (small batch). I cook 80+% of my baked items in this oven and it has does remarkably well. Even the minor temperature fluctuations are not a big deal and frankly, many big ovens are off by 10F and people don't even know it. If I am wrong about a product, I have no problem reassessing my stance and changing it where necessary. I originally rated this oven a 2 and am amending that to a 4. I originally was underwhelmed but after I've used it for about six-months, I would buy this little oven again. It has proved to work better than expected and far better than some of its reviews might indicate. In this case, I am delighted to be proved wrong. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the one that does it all
Verified PurchaseWe loved our old basket air fryer but increasingly felt the need to upgrade it to something that can also handle other tasks such as toasting. We find we use our air fryer/oven a lot but it's just not worth it to spend 30 minutes on our inefficient gas oven just to try and toast bread (let's not even get into how worthless our gas range oven's broil function is). We thought about getting a giant sized air fryer but dreaded the counter space footprint for something that you still can't toast at the same time as air frying chicken/veggies.
That put is in the market of a toaster oven.. and hey, why not an oven that could functionally take over the role of our very bad range oven? At the same time, we air fry a LOT and didn't want to sacrifice our ability to air fry things well. Spent weeks researching and every model from Ninja to Breville seemed to have big downsides. Ninja's reliability, lack of support for standard 9x13 pans, and questionable even baking performance put me off their offerings - they seemed much more "air fryer" first, everything else second. Breville was expensive and didn't seem to do air frying well at all due to it's more traditional toaster oven style fan design. More "toaster oven" first, everything else second.
This product does everything we wanted absolutely perfect. Thanks to the dual fans in the back, it actually air frys almost as good as our basket air fryer with no tossing/flipping required. As a bonus, unlike every other "air fryer oven" we looked at, the air fry mode is QUIET. Which made me think it wasn't working until the chicken + potatoes came out completely evenly cooked and crispy with only 2-3+ extra minutes of cook time vs our basket style fryer. It bakes perfect cakes, see the pictures. The probe mode is awesome and handled a pork roast flawlessly. Everything preheats and cooks fast. Oh yeah, and it toasts perfectly fine.
Capacity is great. Fits our casserole dishes we already own just fine, and you can fit a big roast in it. One thing to keep in mind, it's less easy to fit multiple trays of items. You CAN do it by being clever with the fry basket it comes with to add a second tray of food in, or just cooking the 2nd row of stuff in the basket, but performance is hurt. Not a big deal if the stuff you are cooking isn't that delicate.
A traditional basket fryer is still better in terms of ease of use, clean up and cook time. Nothing can substitute how easy it is to just drop a basket of stuff on a plate and call it a day. It takes longer to get food out of this oven's air fryer basket and takes longer to clean. But it's not significantly worse at anything of these aspects vs a basket air fryer, which was important to us.
My only real criticism is it doesn't have all the nice quality of life features the breville has. No timer paused on door open, no magnetic tray, etc. It's a rather "what you see is what you get" appliance. But that works pretty good for us and we appreciate that it looks sharp, while averaging a lot cheaper than the Breville does.
So if you're looking for an all in one device - this one does it. It toasts, it bakes, it roasts, and it actually air fry's without skipping a beat. So, so much more efficient than our regular oven at doing everything and with much less energy spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appliance I didn't know we needed (KCO224BM)
Verified PurchaseREVIEW FOCUSES ON TOASTING AND CLEANING: When the oven portion of our range went out 1 week before Thanksgiving with no way to get it fixed in time, we bought one of these Kitchenaid Countertop Ovens model number KCO224BM (to be clear, I am not saying we cooked a Turkey in it, I did an Italian style turkey breast roast in a dutch oven on stove top), but we did use it for all the side dishes and lobster tail. I spent hours researching and reading reviews. Friends have the Breville model BOV860BSS and swear by it, which is about $100 more expensive, and I sort of liked the look of it better and I worried I was getting something less with the Kitchenaid given the price difference. But there really didn't seem to be much difference in features and the Kitchaid came with a temperature probe as well (which I recently used with great success on a 4lb Boneless Prime Rib for Christmas). I have not used the air fryer feature yet, but did buy it for that feature so that we could get rid of two countertop appliances (toaster and small air fryer). BUT what I will focus on with this review is cleaning, and the toasting feature, which given some of the reviews on these two areas, caused some pre-purchase concerns. We've toasted bagels and bread in it and it has required some experimentation with the settings. If you are a toast aficionado you will probably get better results from a dedicated device with the more closely spaced heating elements, however, it is working satisfactorily for us and overall usefulness of the oven more than makes up for it. I've attached two pictures of toast I made today. The bread was Brownberry Brand 100% Whole Wheat and I used the setting of 3 (for darkness) and 2 (for number of slices). I was NOT careful about where I placed the bread. In the two pictures, the more fully brown side is the top, and the brown streaked side is the bottom. Note that it takes about 5 minutes to toast a bagel to the doneness I prefer (on bagel setting). Regarding cleaning, so far it has been very easy, although the Prime Rib was the messiest thing we cooked in it, and it took a little more work to clean after--but you know what--cleaning a countertop oven is about 1000% easier than cleaning the bottom of range oven when you are over 6 feet tall! In summary, we use this every single day, typically multiple times a day, just as we would our regular oven--and we are so happy with it that two months after the range oven went out, we still haven't scheduled an appointment to get it fixed. When we do, I doubt it will get used more than a dozen times a year, ESPECIALLY given the Kitcheaid pre-heats to 350-375 degrees in under 3 minutes flat while our range oven (natural gas) takes easily 13-15 minutes to do the same.
