I tend to pile things everywhere, even in my fridge. I am always worried that something in there will shift and tip over causing the door to open in the middle of the night thus spoiling everything inside. I have always used child-safety type straps on my refrigerator doors. Recently my brother came to my home and offered to help put away some groceries I had just received. He wasn’t aware of the strap on the main fridge and somehow forcibly broke it off (and never mentioned it to me). I discovered it that evening but I did not have any spares. Indeed, all the straps I am using throughout my home are different from each other. I saw these and with the 3M adhesive pads thought they would work well. I plan to use these child safety cabinet straps to secure the main refrigerator once again and and also on the freezer doors on my two refrigerators and on the chest freezer. Even if something in the fridge or freezer does shift or fall, it won’t be able to push the door open. The straps will also work well for preventing my brother’s three grandkids from opening the fridge door and forgetting to close it. Yes, adult assistance will be needed for them to have juice boxes or treats but at least the door will not be opened and left open accidentally. Additionally, it will prevent them from getting into cabinets, cupboards, closets and crawlspaces that they should not get into. These Jiudone strap locks can be adjusted between 3” and 7” in length. They work using an adhesive pad on either end of a flexible band. I am familiar with child-safety straps and have used many kinds over the years but found these very difficult to manipulate. I had a hard time adjusting the length. I had an even harder time pushing the sliding button. I have never struggled with safety straps prior to now but, for some reason, had a lot of issues with these. The opening, closing and adjusting of the length of the safety strap are not intuitive, or at least they weren’t for me, whereas the installation was. Unfortunately, the single sheet instructions accompanying the straps only provide information for installing them and not for opening, closing or adjusting. So I was left to figure it out for myself. I think part of the problem is that when sliding a button, you expect the piece to slide out but it needs to be lifted up. Again, not intuitive. I haven’t installed them yet because of the problems I am having with opening them. Maybe by fiddling with them more, I will become more comfortable and better at opening them or they may loosen up and bit and open and close more easily.
