I bought this 14” Chromebook for my wife a few weeks ago, mainly for her to use for online studying, browsing, and general research. At around $200 (plus tax), I wasn’t expecting anything too fancy, but honestly, it’s been a pleasant surprise.
The Full HD display is clear and sharp, which makes a big difference when you’re staring at the screen for long periods. The 14” size is just right, not too small, not too bulky, and it’s lightweight enough for her to carry around the house or take on the go without any hassle.
Performance wise, it handles everyday tasks smoothly. Chrome OS boots up quickly and runs efficiently. Whether she’s on Zoom, working on Google Docs, or just watching YouTube videos, everything works as expected without lag. The battery life is another plus, it easily lasts through a full day of study sessions without needing to be plugged in.
That said, there are a few trade offs. The storage is limited, as expected with most Chromebooks, so it’s best suited for cloud based work. The build is mostly plastic, so it doesn’t feel premium, but it still feels sturdy enough for regular use. The speakers are also on the average side, not bad, but nothing impressive either.
Overall, for the price, this Chromebook delivers solid value. It’s ideal for basic tasks and online learning, which is exactly what my wife needed. If you’re looking for a budget friendly laptop for light use, this one is definitely worth considering.
