- Reviewed in Canada on September 24, 2024Verified PurchaseI really like my Garmin Approach G12, because I just have to look at my numbers and I can select the right club for the distance I need. I have a regular rangefinder, but I find it takes a few more seconds to get your reading. I find I use the G12 more when I am playing. It takes a bit of time to figure out how to get the app and the G12 to work together, but once you start getting the hang of it, playing becomes easy. It's a small unit and I am always afraid to lose it, so I bought a strap to attach to my bag or my pants. There are better units, but Bottom line good product.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 20, 2024Verified PurchaseWhen I received my Garmin it was already fully charged. Yesterday I completed my 7th 18 hole round and it is still about 40% charged. The numbers are big and easily readable. There is a setting in which you can move the pin placement around to get an even more accurate yardage to the pin. After my round is over it even tells me how long my round took to play and gives me my mileage walked. I mostly use it strictly for yardage to the front, middle and back of the greens, but there are also more features available such as yardage to traps and water. My golfing buddy has an older Garmin that gives him about 4 rounds, so this one is quite an upgrade

- Reviewed in Canada on February 21, 2025Verified PurchaseThis golf gps is reasonably priced, is easy to carry in a pocket, and gives accurate yardages. It found the courses I played quite quickly.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 31, 2024Verified PurchaseI don’t know how exact the distance readings are - I’m sure someone out there will find fault - but I don’t care.
I find it very helpful to have with me, if I’m nowhere near the yardage markers that most courses place in the fairways. (Saves a lot of walking off yardages…)
I’d guess that the readings are pretty darn close, but as a maybe-once-a-week golfer, I don’t hit my clubs to exact distances every time, so it doesn’t matter to me. It helps my speed of play.
And I haven’t even used all the features yet.

Bon achat.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 22, 2022Verified PurchaseI have used this range finder for a few rounds now and love it. It's easy to use for the most part. I did have some trouble with keeping score when I first tried it out. I made the mistake in trying to use my phone (with the Garmin app) and this device at the same time. That doesn't work so well as I ended up losing my score completely. Not a big deal at that time since I was using the paper scorecard anyways. If you are going to keep the score on the device, don't sync to your phone to it until the round is complete. Otherwise you can lose your score. The battery life on this little device is also great. You won't have any issues playing 3-4 rounds on one charge. You may even get more out of one charge. I didn't try past 3 rounds, but the battery was still around 50% at time of recharge. I wish the device didn't have a proprietary charger cable and just used a USB-C connector.
Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 19, 2024Verified PurchaseHad older one.(G10?) G12 think is a little different but pretty much the same .Think it finds courses faster than older model.Really all you need for golf. Shows distance ...can measure shots...show hazard yardages...keeps score. All for $150 on amazon....$200 at golf town ????Yeah range finders may be more accurate by a couple yards but 99% of us aren't good enough for that to matter.(lot of pros not either)

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, lightweight, instant and accurate readings
Verified PurchaseWorks very well. Instant yardages as I roll up to my ball. I don’t really use many of the other features, but generally speaking the yardage reading is fast and accurate. Golf courses are also acquired very quickly Unit is very small and lightweight and I like it in my pocket vs the clip. Kinda feel like I wish the clip could rotate or be switched to face the opposite direction

4.0 out of 5 stars almost perfect!
Verified Purchaseit takes awhile to get used how this works and once you do, works like a charm. I cannot ask for more getting this at discount. value for money!
personally i enjoyed this small device gives pretty reliable distances almost the same as my Rangefinder. Its very pocketable but best if you can clip it somewhere. the screen too can be inverted( the designers have put in thought ) oh yes, it also keeping track of my score.
The only think i find abit lacking ad the information on side hazards they arent the clearest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful!
Verified PurchaseI purchased the Garmin Approach G12 golf range finder and it has worked out great for me. I've had it for a full golf season and this truly has helped me to become better at figuring out which golf club to use depending on the distance to the green. When you start, it finds the course you are at, it asks if you want to use the score feature, and what color will you be teeing off from. (Black, blue, gold, white, red) It took me a bit to become quick in navigating the buttons to score and advance to the next hole. I had to figure out how to change holes when our start off was not on #1, but was on #10 instead for the back nine. I also save all of my games using the blue tooth connection to the app on my phone, so that I can refer back to them. You can scan all of your games, where you played, your score etc... There are features that I probably am not using as yet but I'll figure it out eventually. I think for the money, this is small, simple, and easy to carry. I have it on a short lanyard to hang from my belt area.
