Great little headphone amp!
I own both this amp, and the Suca T2. Both amps use the same circuit board. As far as I can tell, the only differences are that the Fosi (on the left in the photos) has better quality tube sockets and (possibly) superior soldering. In addition, the Fosi’s adapter socket has a larger diameter centre pin. Sound quality of the amps is the same, which is to say, very good: excellent tonal balance (no coloration) and decent soundstage. Neither amp advertises that the op amps are replaceable (they are socketed rather than soldered to the board). I think, in fact, that the op amps are principally responsible for signal amplification, while the tubes perform only a buffering function. Thus, changing the op amps likely has a greater effect on the sound quality than changing the tubes (get a Jonard S-340, or similar tool to remove the op amps). That said, the amps sound fine with the stock tubes and op amps, and you may be perfectly happy with either amp as is. I have tried a number of tubes and op amps in the devices (esp. in the Suca, which I’ve had longer). Tube options are as follows: 6K4 (stock) = 6BA6, 5749 6J1 = 6AK5, 5654 6J4 = 6AU6, EF94 Reasonably priced op amp options include: Burr Brown (TI) OPA2132, OPA2134, OPA2604, OPA2227, OPA2107 National Semiconductor (TI) LM4562, LME49720, LME49860 Analog Devices OP275 Muses 8920 Be sure to get the DIP-8 version of any op amp you are considering.     I have wanted to try out a tube amp for a while now, and when the jack on my current amp gave out after many years of abuse, I decided to try this out. While I can't comment on the overall effect of the tubes provided, I can say that I enjoy the clarity and consistency of the sound they produce. The amplification is definitely sufficient, as this unit will easily power my T50RP-Mk3s with room to spare. It does not take very long for the tubes to reach operating temperature, and they won't burn you when they do (The unit only seems to hit around 40 Celsius max at any point).

    I am not a fan of the red LEDs that give it a fake 'glow' (looks cheap to me), but I'll most likely remove them myself at some point.

    The use of a quarter inch jack eases my mind in regards to longevity, along with the metal construction.

    I got this tube headphone amp to go with my Sennheiser HD6XX headphones from Massdrop, which is their custom tuned version of the HD650 for half the price. For those wondering what the difference is, they just reduce the midrange and treble a little to be more balanced with bass giving it a warmer sound. According to many Audiophiles, tube amps go well with the HD600 series like peanut butter and jelly. So I said, why not get a budget one instead of the crazy expensive versions and test this belief for myself. I'm glad I did. For starters the HD6XX like many in the 600 series is very detailed in its sound. That's what makes the them so popular.

    Without the tube amp, the HD6XX is one of the best headphones you'll ever buy. With a good enough tube amp all the benefits of the headphone is literally amplified. Of course, there is the point of needing an amp for the 600 series to begin with, because of the headphones having 300 impedance, so you'll barely hear anything meaningful at stock volumes from a cellphone, television, computer, etc. You'll literally need to max those volumes out using this type of headphone, and it still wouldn't be loud enough for most people. But the tube amp also amplifies the sound quality making the music sound very clean and clear. That is the best way to describe the sound. There is no distortion, the instruments sound even more detailed. The bass is very clean, and the vocals are so well balanced you'd think the singer is performing right in front of you. The soundstage is greatly improved, giving the music a live performance effect, especially if its coming off of a high quality, lossless, music source. And because of the HD6XX more warm based sound profile, it improves gaming and watching movies too, especially in the vocals for movies and shows, and the sound effects for video games.

    The amp itself doesn't get very hot, even after many hours of use, and it doesn't have the static noise problem that many tube amps, even ones far more expensive have. The tubes themselves are also very easy to remove and replace. So if one of them burns out, or you just want to try a different version for a different sound, you easily can. The only downside is the tube amp comes with a short AC power cord. You either have to use the amp close to a wall outlet or get an extension cord. This, however, is a minor setback compared to all the benefits.

    I highly recommend this tube amp, if you want improved sound without spending a fortune. Of course, a more expensive well known brand would probably make these your headphones sound even better, but if you're thinking about getting this, then you likely have the same mindset as myself. Well, go on ahead and add it to your cart. Its a good value.
