Then once you place the cap back on you simply move the skidder on the side to the strength desired. I usually leave it on low and it smells just right. It works just fine and so far I love it! I have it in a small hallway that always seems to smell musty. I have it set to medium.
I'm going to explain how this works and hopefully it will answer many questions or clear up some confusion many have regarding this product.
1) Take off the base of the mister~once that is done,look at the front of the base, this is where the dials are and is also where you put the bottle of oil in. Now turn the base around and you will find that this is where the batteries go. Once the bottle of oil and the batteries are in, remember to put the base back on over it.
2) Now when you put in the bottle of oil ~yes, listen for the click, but if you don't see the blue light flash around where the mist comes out or no mist comes out. Take that bottle of oil out and push a little harder until you DO get the blue light to flash and mist comes out of the top. Now the thing is is that I don't remember if I had the dial to off or not when I did this. But I've heard some people think they had a defective one (as did I at first), but once I pushed that bottle in a little harder than I did originally...the blue light flashed and mist came out! So, I then realized that my product wasn't defective after all. But remember! Don't push that bottle so hard that you break it or something!
3) Now what to set it at? It depends on much mist you want to come out each time and it will probably also depend on how long the oil will last per what you set it at.
If you set it at the Lowest the mist will come out every 17 mins for 4 sec/ Medium will mist every 12 mins for 5 sec/Highest will mist every 10 mins for 6 sec.
4)Whatever you set it at...it will last for 8 hrs. Then it will stop until the time comes again that you had set it at. This means...let's say you put the dial at Medium at 6pm...it will mist every 12 mins for 5 secs for 8 hrs. Then it will stop and it will start up again at 6pm the next day. If you want to change the time that it mists wait until the time you want to change it to...you had it going starting 6pm and now you want it to go off at 3pm instead? Then you'll have to wait until 3pm arrives, when it's 3pm...turn the mister to off and then slide it to whatever setting you it (low/medium/high)~you're done! It will mist for 8 hrs and then stop until 3pm rolls around again.
I hope this helps a lot of people that may have had problems with it or were/are confused.

I love these things. I have a bunch around the house. I don’t like plug ins because I’ve had some that get really hot and worry about how safe they are. These take batteries so it’s a win win. The scent is light and not overpowering. The smaller the room the more noticeable. I put rechargeable batteries in them and charge them when I replace the oil cartridge. It gives off just enough scent where anyone that comes over notices it but in a good way. Some others became too over powering. This scent and the mandarin orange are my favorites.
