The Meshtastic radio has truly impressed me with its reliable connectivity and user-friendly features, making off-grid communication easier and more accessible than ever. Its compact design and long battery life make it a perfect companion for outdoor adventures, and the intuitive interface allows for quick setup and seamless operation. The open-source platform and active community support add tremendous value, allowing users to customize and enhance their experience. The only drawback is that the screen can be somewhat fragile, so I recommend handling it with care or using a protective case. Overall, it’s a fantastic device for anyone looking to stay connected in remote areas.

Works well with Meshtastic but this is well known. With the tiny antenna it has not much range, but is far better when using a co-linear Vertical antenna.

As described. Tested the included antenna on a nanoVNA, it's not well turned for 915Mhz. But they never are?

Decided on this because of the fast ship time even though it didn’t have a project box and I was glad. Most other LoRa radios have an antenna that isn’t tuned for 915 MHz (the frequency used in the USA) but I tested this antenna and it was 1.8 SWR (below 2 is acceptable). I decided to get a little creative and used the plastic box it came in as the project box and I’m pretty pleased with myself. I used a 1/4 inch drill bit (by hand) to make the antenna port in the box and a 7/64 inch drill bit (again by hand and a pocket knife and patience) to make the USB C port in the box. All in all took about a half hour and works great. Even has room for a battery if I want to add one.

I made a waterproof case out of a relish jar and some plumbers putty… instead of paying $25 or more for a 3D-printed one. I’m excited because more and more nodes are showing up daily here. This may be an important SHTF communication channel that doesn’t rely on cell-towers. The more nodes, the better. I recommend using the “Long-Fast” setting. Please consider being part of this important initiative. 😀👍🏻👍🏻
