About this item

  • Features: it is used to detect many common faults of the engine, such as piston ring wear, cylinder head crack, valve wear and cylinder head seal burst. It checks the amount of leakage in the engine cylinders and helps determine the source of the leakage.
  • General accessories: It is very suitable for testing trucks and models with minimum clearance. Check the leakage of the four stroke engine.
  • How the leak tester works: once the leak tester is connected to one of the cylinders, compressed air (45-100 psi) enters the cylinder through an integrated pressure regulator. Diagnose by observing the amount of leakage shown on the cylinder leakage gauge and listening to the leakage at all points of the vehicle system. It is not applicable to shallow cylinders.
  • Easy to operate: remove the Schrader Valve and close the regulator before using workshop air. Install the hose on the cylinder, install the device on the air source, calibrate the leakage counter, and secure the device to the cylinder hose. Perform the diagnosis by observing the amount of leakage displayed on the cylinder leakage gauge and listening to the leakage at each point in the vehicle system.
  • Package: 48cm recoil hose, 12mm and 14mm spark plug adapters, fixed connector M14 x 26mm, fixed connector M16 x 26mm, pressure+cylinder leakage gauge, air regulator, instructions and case.

Worn piston rings, worn valves, cracks in cylinder walls and blown head gaskets.

Location Of Detect Foints

  • Oil dipstick tube — for leakage from damaged or worn rings and/or cylinder wall.
  • Radiator filler — for cylinder wall cracks or head gasket leakage.
  • Adiacent cylinder — for head gasket leakage.
  • Carburettor air inlet — for inlet valve leakage.
  • Fuel injection throttle body — for inlet valve leakage.
  • Tail pipe — for exhaust valve leakage.

NOTE

  1. Please wear gloves and goggles when use.
  2. This cylinder leakage test kit should be used by professional or under the guidance of a professional.
  3. Always refer to equipment manufacturer's operation instruction, compare to the manufacturer's recommended readings.
  4. Select neutral (or "park" if automatic transmission) and keep hands clear of the engine as engine rotation may occur when using this tool. The ignition MUST BE turned off.
  5. This cylinder leak tester is not suitable for shallow cylinder. Please check your cylinder first before bidding.
  6. Turn regulator knob fully anticlockwise before connecting to compressed air.
  7. Require an air pressure of 45 to 100psi. Ensure the air supply is clean and does not exceed the pressure quoted.
  8. Unscrew the adapter after the cylinder is cooled to prevent the hose from softening and not driving the adapter to rotate together.

Manifold hose had a restriction check valve fitting installed rendering the assembly useless for its intended purpose as even without the quick connect attached to the hose it reads 0 leakage. Clearly from the other review photos this is not always the case, so just buyer beware.

Hey, for this price it's pretty good!
Not top quality but also a fraction of the cost of top quality.
Used it on a snowblower that I suspected had a leak but it didn't.
So as far as that goes it works very well.
Case plastic is a bit on the cheap side but at least it has a case.
I'd say it's well worth the cost.
If I run into problems with it down the road I'll update this comment but so far so good!

I got the product as one day delivery and it seemed good (at least at first look). Without wasting your time, let's see the pros and cons:

    Cons:
Everything is made out of cheap material, the seals started leaking as soon as I connected a compressor to it. It wasn't working. I was getting 5% leak in a cylinder which had 0 compression at all. Wasted money, wasted time and wasted efforts. A person should be paid even to buy this one.
    Pros:
    I didn't see any.

You need a 1/4" BSPT male compressed air fitting that is not included to calibrate the gauges. This was not available in Toronto Canada and the 1/4" NPT fitting was the smallest I could find and it did not work properly. I ended up only being able to make comparitive, not absolute measurements. I think the manufacturer should include this inexpensive plug (or a calibrated orifice) . Otherwise you will discover this when you are wanting to use it and THEN find out you need to drop everything and go try to find this part at a store.

I was initially skeptical because I had a hard time zeroing the gauge reliably, but once I realized that I could put a blow gun on the end of the hose attached to the gauge cluster, and evacuate the air - I was able to nail down the calibration and zero the gauge reliably. I wanted to mention this trick because it might help someone else.
I am grateful that I was able to buy this somewhat specialized tool for such a fair price. I am a guy who works on engines in my garage, and I'm very glad I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on tools like this. I won't use it very often, but when you need it you need it, and it does the job.
I am also grateful that it comes with the case. The case is sturdy and everything fits well. The compression gauge I bought (a few years ago) didn't come with a case and it's a pain to protect the gauge in storage and keep the adaptors organized.

Only used it once and it worked great. Only complaint would be the instructions say your air pressure can be between 50-100 but I could only zero the gauge if I had it at 100

The media could not be loaded.
I initially purchased and tested my engine with this tool and I thought I got great results. Each cylinder had 3-4% leakage, which is fantastic. Later I tried it on a different motor and noticed the exact same result for each cylinder ... 3-4% leakage. That's too strange so I hooked up a blow-gun to the side that should go into the cylinder and I noticed the defective results in the video. With the blow-gun trigger pulled it should read 100% leakage, but the gauge only dips slightly and doesn't move any further.
One more observation, if I disconnect the air compressor input (the line going into the regulator), THEN pull the trigger on the blow-gun, it leaks down to 0% as I would expect it to.
This product is clearly defective, and worse yet it has cost me a bunch of time trying to diagnose a problem with my motor because I thought it was giving accurate readings. Since I bought this in June 2024 but was fiddling with it for longer than the return window, now I'm stuck with a non-functional tool.

I'm open to the 鶹 Vendor to contact me and discuss the issue, or arrange a replacement. If that happens I will update this review.

2.0 out of 5 stars The instructions are wrong

I ordered this for my wife's van and was struggling to understand the instruction for calibrating the gauge. It says the right hand gauge should be on the set at about 15 to 25 psi, however that would require the right hand gauge to have a range of 0-25 psi and its clearly marked 0-7 bar which is 0 -100 psi. both gauges are the same. You will have to ignore the text on the gauge and measure the difference between the input and output gauges to get a percentage of leakage. I believe anything over 7 percent difference is beyond ok. best to check all other cylinders if you have doubts. I think what happened is this was originally designed for motorcycles or small motors where 100 psi would turn over a motor so it was made for lower pressures but sold for larger cars at the normal 100psi range but the instructions and gauge face-plate are off. follow instructions for The OTC Brand gauge.

Zeros at around 28 psi and it works great for the price you can't beat it and didn't have to pay a shop to do this who knows if the guy doing it knows what he's doing

I was able to rule out internal issues with this tool, all the cylinders were within a few % of each other and that's what's important consistency that combined with perfect compression numbers tell me it's fine internally even at 200k
