This Switch Controller Surprised Me
I was skeptical about buying a third-party controller for my Nintendo Switch, but this one caught my attention because of its features and price. Unlike some off-brand options, it promised motion controls, vibration feedback, and even wake-up functionality—things I didn’t expect at this cost. After testing it thoroughly, I can confidently say it holds up better than I anticipated. It’s not perfect, but for casual gaming, it’s a solid pick. Using this controller felt nearly identical to the official Joy-Cons, which was a pleasant surprise. The buttons are responsive, and the grip is comfortable, even during longer play sessions. Motion controls worked smoothly in games like Mario Kart, and the vibration was subtle but effective. The wake-up feature was hit-or-miss—sometimes it connected instantly, other times it took a couple of tries. Still, for the price, I wasn’t expecting flawless performance. If you’re looking for an affordable alternative to first-party controllers, this one is worth considering. It doesn’t match the premium feel of Nintendo’s official gear, but it gets the job done without major flaws. I’d recommend it for casual players or as a backup controller for multiplayer games. Just keep in mind that it has a few quirks, like occasional connectivity delays. Pros: - Affordable compared to official controllers - Comfortable grip and responsive buttons - Motion controls and vibration work well Cons: - Wake-up feature isn’t always reliable - Slightly lighter, feels less premium - Minor lag in some fast-paced games

Reviewed in Canada on July 23, 2025Verified PurchaseThe media could not be loaded.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 13, 2025Verified PurchaseThe controllers are ok and serve as a back up. However, the controllers do not charge in my Nintendo charging dock. I have to charge them on the unit itself. Almost returned them for this reason, but for the price will use if my other set runs out of juice.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 12, 2025Got these to replace my original ones with drift. They are working well so far.
They connected easily and quickly, sticks are responsive with no dead areas and no delay in button presses.
Not 5 star because they very much feel like 3rd party controllers. The plastic feels a bit cheaper with a seam that you can feel while playing and the buttons are more clicky (some people might prefer that). And they don't come with wrist straps like original ones do, but then again they're alot less expensive.
But overall, and for their price, they're good replacements.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 29, 2025I honestly can’t find any difference between my original grey Nintendo joycon controllers and these made by the Splatdance brand.
They look identical, feel and perform the exact same. They lock into place perfectly, and the switch console recognized them right away. I played multiple games trying to find a difference, and I didn’t encounter any issues whatsoever.
The only thing I could find was the weight, they’re slightly lighter than the originals. It could be the battery difference, these are 500 mah while the originals are 525 mah. But again I didn’t notice any difference in how long the battery lasted.
I took photos of my grey original joycons beside these aftermarket ones. And you can see for yourself, aside from the colours they look identical.
Pros:
Visually practically identical to the originals
Performance was identical
Locked perfectly onto the switch
Cons:
None at this time
I’ll be using these regularly and if I encounter any issues down the line I’ll update my review.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 21, 2025My son wanted a couple other controllers to play some of the games with his friends. We found this and thought we would try it out to see how well they compared to the other controllers.
After a good night of gaming he said they played great. There was no drift to either of the sticks and they connected easily. They feel like a solid device and we are really happy with how they turned out.
