I like cloud gaming and for that the lower the latency you have, the better it is. I also like downloading large files sometimes. This USB-C ethernet adapter helps noticeably with both.

1. Having a wired connection to your router instead of wifi is a noticeable improvement in terms of latency. In my cloud gaming app, it has speed and latency tests and the improvement with having a wired ethernet connection is noticeable. It is especially helpful for competitive gaming but also just cloud gaming in general.

2. For large file downloads, unless you have the latest and great wifi adapter, the bandwidth you will get will be limited. Well, why limit yourself when you are downloading large files? Over wifi I can never get a download speed of more than 100 or so MB/s. With this ethernet adapter and a direct connection to the router, it is a very stable 300 or so MB/s. A huge improvement. This is even more so when you are downloading or uploading files locally, where your internet connection should not be a limitation. It is not fun waiting for a file to transfer despite being a local transfer.

This adapter is straightforward to use, and given it is USB-C, compatibility is not an issue. Love this little adapter.

Setup
I tested this adapter to see if I could get a true 2.5GbE connection on my mobile devices and PC. I connected it to the 2.5G LAN port on my Asus RT-BE96U router. Very easy, plug and play like the instructions say. It also has indicator lights on the device to tell you if it got 2.5 Gbps, 1 Gpbs or a connection issue.

Performance
- Link Speed: As shown in the screenshots, the adapter successfully negotiated a 2500 Mbps (2.5 Gbps) link on both my Intel PC and my iPhone 16 Pro.
- Throughput: My internet plan is capped at 1 Gbps, and this adapter hit that cap easily in a speed test. While I didn't perform a local NAS file transfer to saturate the full 2.5Gbps bandwidth, the handshake confirms the chipset is working correctly at the higher tier.

Compatibility
iPhone 16 Pro: Worked instantly. Plug and play.
PC (Windows): Recognized immediately without needing manual driver installation.
iPad Pro (M1): I couldn't get it to connect, but I suspect this is an issue with my specific iPad's USB-C port (which is worn out and finicky with charging). Given that it worked perfectly on the iPhone 16 Pro, the adapter is likely fine for iPads with healthy ports.

Build Quality
The aluminum casing feels solid and helps with heat dissipation. It’s compact enough to throw in a laptop bag. It is about the size of portable USB drive.

I am using this to connect ethernet to my Samsung Galaxy S24 and it works perfectly. When I connect it, the phone recognized it as an ethernet adapter and instantly provides me with the appropriate settings prompt. While my use may be a little unorthodox, I have no doubt it would also work perfectly on a laptop, PC, console etc.

Connection speeds were very fast (400 Mbps download compared to 300 Mbps that I get through Wi-fi) from the same router that it's plugged into) which is great for my needs.

The cable is short/small enough to make it easy to travel with as well as not take up a lot of space on your desk. It seems to have a decent build quality as well. It’s a nice device.
