- Reviewed in Canada on March 30, 2019Verified PurchaseThis is a FANTASTIC mandoline. I did a decent amount of research before purchasing and this mandoline was recommended by everyone from hobby cooks to chefs and everyone in between. Many people said that they had tried more expensive and fancier mandolines but always returned to this. I can see why. I’ve tried other mandolines and several different food processors and this beats them all, no questions asked.
This bad boy can make a massive stack of precision-sliced vegetables in about a minute. I am a decent cook, but my knife skills have always been pretty poor. I’m slow and not very precise. I can make nice cuts with a lot of effort, but that means that I have to spend an outrageous time prepping food. Today I washed and chopped 8 zucchini, 4 onions, 4 massive carrots, and 5 bell peppers in about 15-20 minutes. I made very thin slices and made zucchini noodles and took my time experimenting with cut thicknesses. Yes, peppers are a breeze to chop, but I would never be able to get paper thing carrots or zucchini in that time frame. I like this more than my soirilizer because the boss is so sharp and the device so stable that there is no wobbling or knuckle bashing and because of that, it is both faster and safer.
Very easy to clean. (Carrots and beets will stain it a little though, so just be aware of that and accept it.)
Very easy to store. Small and flat and can also be hung on a wall or on the back of a cabinet door if your kitchen is cramped.
VERY SHARP. USE THE GUARD. The guard is actually great anyway and I don’t find it impedes my use, which is nice because the blade is so sharp and I am so clumsy that I know there would be serious damage.
I blathered a bit, but I really, really love this thing. Actually looking forward to making stir fry and apple pie and anything else that involves lots of chopping.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 4, 2025Verified PurchaseGreat product very sharp. Use the finger guard. I've had different mandolin but this one out performs them all. So many different thicknesses.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 5, 2025Verified PurchaseLiterally the best mandoline on the market, sorry you can't change my mind.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2025Verified PurchaseVery good mandoline. It’s a must in the professional kitchens.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 3, 2021Verified PurchaseThe blades get jammed with material when I use a carrot on it but otherwise it's perfect, no issues with things like eggplant and zucchini. The hand guard actually works pretty well which was unexpected but extremely welcome. It's easy to use, I was able to figure it out without the manual's help (which is in Japanese by the way). the color is super nice but a single carrot already stained it seemingly permanently. I was bale to scrub some of it off but it's definitely a little orange now. The thickness setting doesn't budge when slicing and it gave me consistent slices for things like zucchini chips. I've tested various thicknesses and they all turned out perfect.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 28, 2024Verified PurchaseWhy did I wait so long before buying one of these? I have no idea, but perhaps the wait has made owning one all the more satisfying.
I have owned a few other mandolines over the years, including that big complicated metal one that looks like it could be a medieval torture device, and as far as I’m concerned this one has them all beat. Maybe adjusting thickness isn’t as precise, or you can’t slice anything very wide, but the benriner is simple, sharp, and perhaps most importantly, sharpenable!
I have used this to slice paper thin potatoes for the most luxurious potatoes pavé, shredded cabbage for coleslaw, cucumbers, apples, carrots, you name it and the benriner can handle it. Heck, I’ve even used it to slice mortadella without any issues.
One of the best parts about it is how easy it is to take apart. I feel completely confident in giving it a good clean and knowing that there aren’t any bits of food hiding in any nooks and crannies. This also ensures you can keep the blade nice and sharp, and as we all know a sharp blade is a safe blade.
If you’re like me, and for whatever reason hesitating on buying one, just go for it! You won’t regret owning one of these, I guarantee it.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 6, 2024Verified PurchaseReading all the reviews make me giggle a bit. The product is industry quality and does what it’s supposed to do very well. If you don’t know how to use it. Please don’t, unless you would like to learn the hard way. 10/10
- Reviewed in Canada on August 29, 2023Verified PurchaseVery pleased with this addition to the kitchen. Very sharp out of the box, easy to use, easy to clean with a minimalist, sleek design. The size is perfect for what I need. I've tried a few store bought mandolines and the Benriner brand is far superior.
I tend to read the 1-star reviews before I buy a product on 鶹, mostly for entertainment... to the mouth-breathers complaining about ease of use, safety and size, no English instructions... maybe stick to your "Slap-Chop" you purchased from those 2am infomercials.
