Full disclosure: when my non-baby child saw this adorable ducky thermometer he sweetly asked if he could have it. So, I ordered it for him to use when he decides he wants a bath. He told me later that he wanted it so that his little bath characters would have a boat to ride. He was sorely disappointed that, upon first use, the ducky did not in fact float freely with a little passenger but instead rocked violently around and plunged its passenger to the bottom of the bathtub.
So, if you want to use the duck as a tiny boat, then this is not the duck thermometer for you, however, if you want to use it as intended then I will say that this thermometer is easy to use, functions simply, and was ready right out of the box. There is nothing for you to do but to plop the thermometer right into the bathwater; the little silver sensor on the bottom lets the thermometer know that it’s go-time!
You have the ability to display the bath water temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius by simply pressing one of the buttons on the bottom of the duck. You can also change the maximum desired safe temperature from its pre-set factory setting; if the water goes above that the thermometer flashes red. Similarly, if the bath water dips below the minimum safe temperature it will flash blue (you cannot change the minimum safe temperature of 30°C (86°F))
The unit itself is made of rigid plastic and its surface is smooth and easy to wipe down, preventing mould from forming. Aesthetically, the duck thermometer is cute and small, and your little ones will consider it just another toy in the bath for them to play with (and they can because it’s sturdy).
